Fittings

The range of fittings is manufactured

using the Hand Lay-Up system.
They are produced with plain ends, so that
they can be laminated to other fittings or
plain-ended pipes (for industrial projects)
and also with Bell & Spigot ends (for civil
works projects).

Continuous

Blind Flange

With that in mind, PROTESA offers a wide range of joint systems for its GRP pipes, all of which are completely watertight
and, at the least, equally as capable of withstanding the forces derived from the PN (nominal pressure) of the
installation as the sections of piping that they are designed to join.

The Bell & Spigot joint comes with two EPDM O-rings and includes a
check valve, by means of which the cavity between the two O-rings
is pressurized, enabling the watertightness of the joint to be checked
quickly and easily, on site, pipe by pipe, once each joint has been
assembled and before moving on to the next one. The correct assembly
of each joint can thus be confirmed, guaranteeing the success of the
subsequent hydraulic pressure test.

PROTESAs GRP pipes are manufactured by means of the Crossed

Filament Winding process, which consists of creating layers of
glass fiber (direct roving) and thermosetting resin. Once the
composite has polymerized and the work on the pipe itself is
finished, the mold is extracted, leaving the pipe to be machined
as necessary.

PROTESA has 3 production lines with the capacity to supply large

quantities of various different diameters of piping at the same
time.

PROTESA continues to work with the same initial desire to provide

innovative, scientific answers to all issues relating to its GRP pipes,
which, due to their manufacturing process, are technically quite
different from the rest of the pipes available on the market.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP) is

a material made up of different types of
polyester resin (as a binder or matrix) and a
glass fiber reinforcement.
The resulting product has great mechanical
properties, even at high temperatures, and
is lightweight, with great chemical corrosion
resistance. The resin can also be easily
additivated with other components, in order
to modify the mechanical, electrical or
chemical properties.
