When you understand the reason behind wearing rings, you can master
their inner power. Then you can use that power to enhance your life
experience.
From ancient times the wearing of rings signified a form of magical binding
to the priesthood, the tribe, to another person or to a higher spiritual
authority. The circle of the ring is a traditional symbol of infinity or eternity,
the transposition of the magical into the real, tangible world. The materials
of which the ring is constructed, plus the wearers visualization of the rings
higher purpose, determine the nature of a rings power. All rings were once
considered magical or sacred.
Thumb Rings:
The thumbs in palmistry are about self-control. On the active hand (the right
hand if a persons right-handed) a folded-in thumb shows hesitation in
applying oneself to worldly ambitions. On the passive hand, on a more
personal level, a bent-inward thumb shows inner conflicts.
If youre engaged in personal trans-formation, wear a narrow, silver ring (for
higher guidance and strength) with a milled surface (for industry and effort)
on the passive hands thumb. This will strengthen your resolve and induce
greater powers of self-mastery. Any new challenge, be it losing weight or
sticking to your morning yoga class will be easier.
Index finger:
The index finger is known to palmists as the mirror finger. Its ruler is
Jupiter and its about self-reflection. A big ring on the active index finger
shows self-esteem issues, and a frustrated need for power and recognition.
This is particularly true if theres a large gemstone. In portraits of powerful,
ruling figures, like Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Napoleon, large rings are
visible on both index fingers.
Tin is the metal of Jupiter, so if you lack self-confidence, wear a ring of base
metal on the index finger of your active hand to reinforce and enhance the
sense of self. Ensure the ring has no gems and has flat, faceted sides (for
modesty, humility and all-round recognition). Youll feel better immediately.
Visualize the kind of personal qualities you want frequently while turning the
ring slowly with the finger and thumb of your other hand.
Middle Finger:
The middle finger is known as the wall finger. Its ruled by Saturn and
represents psychological boundaries, lifestyle and value systems. The
larger the ring and gemstone worn on this finger, the more seriously one
takes life and the more one wants to fit in and feel secure. Multiple rings on
the middle finger on the passive hand is associated with worries about the
stability of the family and an obsession with material things.
The metal traditionally associated with Saturn is lead. If you have any
concerns in this area of your life, wear a ring made of pewter (which
contains lead) on the passive hands middle finger. Ideally, get one with a
clear, square crystal to bring stability, security and clarity into your life. Get
into the habit of folding the ring-bearing middle finger into the palm and
holding it there with your thumb while breathing deeply. This will do wonders
to bring balance if things are unstable.
Third Finger:
The roots of placing a ring on the third finger in the love-binding ceremony
go back to pagan times. Its ruling planet is Apollo, the sun god. In modern
palmistry its known as the peacock finger, as its about the instinct to
display and attract a mate. The Ancient Egyptians and later, the Greeks,
believed the vena amoris (the vein of love) made a connection between this
finger and the heart.
Wearing a ring here is a self-imposed restriction on the subconscious desire
to display and pursue the opposite sex. The ring places restrictions on the
hearts yearnings. The traditional metal associated with Apollo is gold.
If youre in a love bond, wear a slim gold band here to boost Apollos
blessing. Get one with a single small sapphire, indicating purity and eternity.
If youre single, the ring to wear is of gold with small different colored gems
in a line which indicates the expectation of constant surprise and passion
within relationships. In both cases, the rings give a boost to creativity, selfexpression and social acceptance. Youll feel bolder and brighter.
Fourth Finger:
The little digit is ruled by Mercury, the god of communication, wit, commerce
and sexuality. Its called the antenna in modern palmistry as its concerned
with communication at all levels: verbal, signal and sexual. A person
bearing more than one ring on the little finger may be inclined to bend the
