Pre-test means and Post test means scores of the blood cholesterol of rabbits
under the experimental group treated with Fuji Apple

The table above showed the pre-test means scores using conventional units of the blood
cholesterol of rabbits under the experimental group treated with Fuji Apple (Malusdomestica).
The total cholesterol was 92.0867; triglycerides was 136.95; HDL Cholesterol was
15.1922; LDL Cholesterol was 49.5144; VLDL Cholesterol was 27.3911; and HDL Ratio was
6.2733.

The post-test means scores using conventional units of the blood cholesterol of rabbits
under the experimental group treated with Fuji Apple (Malusdomestica) were the following:
The total cholesterol was 32.9511; triglycerides was 67.0067; HDL Cholesterol was
23.4544; LDL Cholesterol was -3.9044; VLDL Cholesterol was 13.4011; and HDL Ratio was
1.4489.
It can be noted that the post-test mean scores for the different categories of cholesterol
when treated with Fuji Apple extracts were lower compared to pre-test mean scores except for
HDL Cholesterol where the pretest mean score which was 15.922 was lower compared to posttest mean score which was 23.4544.

2.
What are the pre-test and post-test means scores of the blood cholesterol of rabbits under
the control group?
Cholesterol level will be measured in terms of:
a.
b.
c.
d.
e.

Pre-test means and Post-test means scores of the blood cholesterol of rabbits
under the positive control group treated with Simvastatin

The table shown presented the pre-test means scores of blood cholesterol of rabbits under
the positive control group treated with Simvastatin.
The total cholesterol was 75.1844; triglycerides was 143.8989; HDL Cholesterol was
17.5411; LDL Cholesterol was 32.53; VLDL Cholesterol was 28.78; and HDL Ratio was 4.3189.

The post-test means scores of blood cholesterol of rabbits under the positive control
group treated with Simvastatin.
4

The total cholesterol was 24.7878; triglycerides was 52.2511; HDL Cholesterol was
22.6256; LDL Cholesterol was -8.2878; VLDL Cholesterol was 10.45; and HDL Ratio was
1.130.
It can be noted that the post-test mean scores for the different categories of cholesterol
when treated with Simvastatin were lower compared to pre-test mean scores except for HDL
Cholesterol where the pretest mean score which was 17.5411 was lower compared to post-test
mean score which was 22.6256.

Table 3.

Pre-test means and post test means scores of the blood cholesterol of rabbits
under the negative control group treated with Distilled Water

The table shown above presented the pre-test means scores of blood cholesterol of rabbits
under the negative control group treated with distilled water.
The total cholesterol was 70.5078; triglycerides was 133.22; HDL Cholesterol was
21.3267; LDL Cholesterol was 22.5378; VLDL Cholesterol was 26.6433; and HDL Ratio was
3.3567.
6

The post-test means scores of blood cholesterol of rabbits under the negative control
group treated with distilled water were the following.
The total cholesterol was 40.1822; triglycerides was 50.4689; HDL Cholesterol was
22.7811; LDL Cholesterol was 7.6022; VLDL Cholesterol was 10.0922; and HDL Ratio was
1.7867.
It can also be noted that the post-test mean scores for the different categories of
cholesterol when treated with distilled water lower compared to pre-test mean scores except for
HDL Cholesterol where the pretest mean score which was 21.3267 was lower compared to posttest mean score which was 22.7811.

3. Is there a significant difference between the blood cholesterol of rabbits under the
experimental group treated with Fuji Apple (Malusdomestica) and the control group?
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to determine if significant difference existed in
blood cholesterol of the control groups and experimental group treated with Fuji apple extracts.
Significant difference existed if significance (sig) is less than 0.05. Significant difference in
blood cholesterol will be measured in terms of:
a.
b.
c.
d.
e.
f.

Total Cholesterol
Triglycerides
HDL Cholesterol
LDL Cholesterol
VLDL Cholesterol
HDL Ratio

a. Total Cholesterol

Table 4. Significant Difference in Total Cholesterol of the control groups and experimental
group treated with Fuji apple extracts

Results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.217) between the
mean total cholesterol scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji apple extract treated
rabbits .
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to lowering the level of total cholesterol.

b.

Triglycerides

Table 5. Significant Difference in Triglycerides of the control groups and experimental

group treated with Fuji apple extracts

Results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.089) between the
mean triglycerides scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji apple extract treated
rabbits.
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to lowering the level of triglycerides.

c.

HDL Cholesterol

Table 6. Significant Difference in HDL Cholesterol of the control groups and experimental
group treated with Fuji apple extracts

Results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.933) between the
mean HDL Cholesterol scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji apple extract treated
rabbits.
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to affecting the level of HDL Cholesterol.

d.

LDL Cholesterol

Table 7. Significant Difference in LDL Cholesterol of the control groups and experimental
group treated with Fuji apple extracts

Results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.933) between the
mean LDL Cholesterol scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji apple extract treated
rabbits.
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to lowering the level of LDL Cholesterol.

e.

VLDL Cholesterol

Table 8. Significant Difference in VLDL Cholesterol of the control groups and

experimental group treated with Fuji apple extracts

Again, the results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.089)
between the mean VLDL Cholesterol scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji apple
extract treated rabbits.
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to lowering the level of VLDL Cholesterol.

f.

HDL Ratio

Table 9. Significant Difference in HDL Ratio of the control groups and experimental group
treated with Fuji apple extracts

Again, the results above showed that there is no significant difference (sig=0.089)
between the mean HDL Ratio Cholesterol scores in simvastatin treated, water treated, and Fuji
apple extract treated rabbits.
This no significant difference means that simvastatin, distilled water, and Fuji apple
extracts have the same effects when it comes to lowering the level of HDL Ratio.
