Supplies Needed:
1 skein white worsted or aran weight yarn (Baymax photographed for this pattern used a little
over half a skein of Red Heart Supersaver -- 4.5 oz/236 yards)
Size G crochet hook
Two 12mm safety eyes
Small amounts of black and white embroidery floss
Stuffing material of your choice
Poly pellets and a stocking (optional, if you would like your Baymax to have weighted legs)
A couple square inches of cardboard
Construction Notes:
All pieces are worked in continuous rounds.
US crochet terms/sizing.
Weighting the legs with poly pellets is optional you may choose to just use stuffing instead, and this will
work just fine.

Begin crocheting again:

11. {dec, SC} around (12)
Break yarn, leaving long tail for stitching head onto body. (Its ok that the bottom is not stitched
completely closed, because youre going to use your last row of stitches to sew the head on to Baymaxs
body.)

Arms (make 2)
Make 2 Thumbs:
1. Start with a magic ring, SC 5 into magic ring (do not pull ring closed too tightly yet) (5)

Pull ring tightly closed, snip beginning yarn, tuck into thumb.
Break yarn, leaving about 6 inch tail.

pull ring tightly closed (6)
2. SC twice into each st around (12)
3. SC around (12)
4. SC around (12)

This is where youre going to join the thumb. Leave
the yarn tail from your thumb dangling between
the thumb and the hand if there is a gap at this
join (and there might be no biggie!) you can use
this yarn to stitch the hole closed.
6. SC 3, SC around all 5 sts of thumb, SC 9 (17)
7. SC around (17)
8. SC 12, inc, SC 3 (18)

22. SC around (14)
23. SC around (14)
24. SC around (14)
Break yarn, leaving long tail for sewing to body.

Stuff arm, pushing stuffing into fingers and base of thumb. Stuff a little less firmly near opening.
If necessary, sew any gap at thumb join closed, break yarn, and weave in yarn end.
OPTIONAL: if you would like fingers, press hand flat and use embroidery floss to create them.
o 4 rows from starting row, insert needle straight through hand, wrap floss over top of hand,
insert needle through same two holes, wrap floss over top of hand.
o Pull floss tightly, and tie a firm knot against the hand.
o Snip floss ends and dab knot with fray check if desired.
Repeat this process again, a couple of stitches from the first finger.

Your hand will look like this when you are done:

Legs
1. Start with a magic ring, SC 6 into magic ring, pull ring tightly closed (6)
2. SC twice into each stitch around (12)
3. {SC, inc} around (18)
4. SC into back loops only around (18)
5. SC around (18)
6. SC around (18)
7. SC around (18)
8. SC around (18)
9. SC around (18)
10. SC around (18)
11. SC around (18)
Leg 1 break yarn and weave in end.
Leg 2 do not break yarn! Youre going to crochet Leg 2 to Leg 1 now.

With bobby pins (or pinning method

of your choice safety pins, split ring
markers, etc.) pin one stitch of Leg 1
to one stitch of Leg 2.
Skip two stitches, then pin another
stitch from Leg 1 to a stitch on Leg 2.
What you end up with is 8 stitches
pinned together in the center 4 sts
pinned, and 4 sts between pins.

SC around outside edges of legs, skipping pinned stitches

Remove pins, then SC 4 to join legs together in the middle.
Break yarn, leaving long tail for sewing legs to body.
Assemble Baymax

Legs

Cut 2 cardboard circles (slightly larger than a quarter), place in bottom of Baymaxs legs.

Make pellet pouches (optional!).

Spoon 2 tbsp. of poly pellets into stocking.
Knot stocking tightly, then make another
knot roughly a half inch away from the first
knot.
Spoon 2 tbsp. of poly pellets into stocking,
knot tightly.
Snip between knots, and trim long end of
stocking.

Place a little stuffing inside legs on top of cardboard circles.

Insert one pellet pouch into each leg.
Sew legs to Baymaxs body.

***NOTE: Do not overstuff the legs you want the bottom of Baymaxs feet to be flat, not bowed out, so
he can stand up.
