ABSTRACT:

This software is used as a remote control for PCs connected as a Local Area Network,
this software is used to lock various resources such as Drives, Folders, Files, Applications and
Data Files, and it also control the processes that are running on the remote computer. The
software system also controls the login/logoff and shutdown/restart events. The software has
the ability to lock the command prompt, Regedit (registry editor) and USB as well as Removable
Drives such as CDROM and DVD ROM/RDWR. It also restricts the network/web and printer
access of the PC. Program modules are written that will lock its various other resources such as
printers or net connection.

INTRODUCTION:
We have seen many places where we have Local Area
Networks and lots of people using them as per their own needs, In such scenarios we have
to closely monitor the computers. Many a times we need to lock the Resources such as Drives,
Folders or Files on these computers to restrict the User of making use of them. Sometimes we
need to stop the users from using the internet or from changing the setting or accessing the
registry editor so as to secure the system from any crash due to misuse of it. These are common
task that we do in our day to day life but for these we dont have any Utility software.
With these project idea we have build a software system that can serve us to
achieve all these needs.

Main objectives are as follows:

Connection with remote computer

Controlling remote machine (Shutdown and Restart)

Process Control (Checking status of remote machine, Killing process of remote

machine, executing process)

Checking Memory status of remote computer (Physical and virtual memory).

Locking and Unlocking of folders, checking folder status.

Locking and Unlocking of files, checking files status.

Locking and Unlocking of application, checking application status.

Locking and Unlocking of USB, checking USB status.

Locking and Unlocking of CD-ROM, checking CD-ROM status

Objectives of the System

1. Locking and unlocking of resources:

The most important objective of the software is to control all the computers
in the network for locking and unlocking of resources.
2. Maintaining user profile:
Ability to save the settings for individual computers in the local area network as
profiles(pro files) which will save the efforts to each time repeat locking /Unlocking the same
resources on different computers again and again.
3. User friendly graphical interface of the system:
The main advantage of software is that it will have no problem while running in
a network where some computers have windows such as XP, VISTA or WIN 7 and some
computers have LINUX operating system; this is due to fact that the system is written in JAVA
and C that makes it possible to run on most of the available platforms .

CONCLUSION

JLAN Controller will be very useful utility for those who have to monitor a network with more
than 2-3 computers in local area network. The areas where the JLAN Controller can be used are
internet cafes, college practical labs or educational institutions as it provides the facility of
controlling the computers over the network and also locking and unlocking their resources over
the network.
