CONFERENCE SUB TOPICS

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

This conference intends to rethink language teaching
in India and explore alternative ways to make language learning and teaching happen meaningfully in
Indian classrooms. Our focus is to see if indigenous
methods of learning and teaching language are possible as against the available models of the West which
are being used here in Indian classrooms. Here, methods include curriculum, transactional methodology
and evaluation procedures. The conference gains its
significance in the backdrop of teaching and learning
methods supposedly borrowed from the west, being
implicitly accepted as the methods and a perception
of threat posed to the very existence of native methods of learning and teaching.
The conference is intended to provide a platform for
teachers of Indian languages such as Kannada, Hindi
and Sanskrit along with the teachers of English to
hold meaningful discussions and debates on the topic.
