THE BRIEF
FOUR MESSAGES FROM THE WORLD
Miskin Artists/ Designers,
You are to design the ARTWORK for a series of FOUR POST CARDS
The artwork must first be created as FOUR A4 sized art pieces
The four pieces must be CONNECTED VISUALLY or as a THEME of CHOICE
The cards must have a VISUAL MESSAGE
The artwork needs to be created as MIXED MEDIA pieces
When completed they will be DIGITIZED (scanned) and RE-SIZED
They should be either A6 or A5 READY FOR PRINT post cards
Add text with suitable fonts to the digital version if you like
The cards must be printed in full colour and displayed together as a series
The final pieces and developments must also be displayed in Tumblr
FOUR MESSAGES FROM THE WORLD; Chose a THEME for your card series!
It can be about anything you want. Examples can be; ideological, like say something about how we
treat our planet or; how to behave in a better way as humans or; accepting and embracing that
people are different around the world. It can be from nature or the sea, or it can be about music, love,
seasons, moods, children, animals, fashion, birthday, friendship and the list goes on.
Anything you are interested in can be the theme.
The most important thing here is that your artwork SENDS A MESSAGE visually!
Also establish that the designs can be aimed towards a particular age group, in which you choose
before you start your work.
The first part of this project will be work shop based
You will research and learn how to draw and paint by using a range of tools and techniques
Throughout the project we will learn and investigate the formal elements, which are the ingredients
of a piece of artwork, they make up an image or artefact and allow the viewer to get as much as
possible out of it. The formal elements include line, tone, shape, colour, texture and space. You
are to investigate these formal elements through all the work you produce in all the variety of media
we will be using
When developing work within art and design, it is important to first develop skills in drawing from life.
Many artists enjoy drawing from their imagination; however it is always based on knowledge of how to
draw real things from in front of them. Being skilful at drawing is essential to all of those who
work in the creative industries but dont worry, drawing is a skill which can be learned and will
continue to develop throughout your life. The more you practice, the better you will become at it!
Professional Practice: Please be aware that you will be putting professional practice into action
within Miskin Arts, which is a professional environment in which you are effectively being given the
opportunity to publicly test your skills and gain creditable industrial experience.
