KANDLA PORT RESTRICTIONS

1.

The maximum permissible draft in the channel is 12.5 m. However, maximum permissible drafts
at individual berths, moorings and anchorages will apply.

The Maximum permissible LOA for the Port is 240 mtr.

Permissible draught for ships and tankers exceeding 225.5m (740 ft) will have a minimum
under keel clearance of 1.2 m (4 ft).
Vessels more than 225.5m in length must be brought directly along side berth and shall not be
allowed at anchorage.
Berthing of vessels beyond 225.5m in length shall be done between panels 51 to 84 only.
Only one vessel exceeding 225.5 mtr. shall be handled at a time.
Ships and tankers having maneuverable speed of less than 9 Knots through water will not be
moved in and out of Kandla Port during darkness hours. However, this condition is not applicable
to Tugs/Barges.

Night Pilotage restrictions are as follows:(a)

The maximum permissible draft will be 10.50 m.
(b)
Pilotage is restricted to vessels with length 200m (656 ft)
(c)
LPG and Ammonia Vessels are handled during daylight hours only.

Berthing and un-berthing vessels and tankers to Buoy moorings will be restricted to day light
hours only.

Ships and Tankers arriving with maximum permissible draught for the day should arrive at Outer
Tuna Pilot Station a minimum of 2 hours before the time of high water. Some changes of draft
and depths are liable to occur, which will be notified.

Vessels with a departure draught of 10.5 meters. or more should be brought starboard side
alongside on the flood tide to prevent delay in sailing to await change of tide. In case the vessel is
portside alongside due to any reason she should be turned around to face the flood during the
stay at berth.

various berths are indicated for the chart datum depth unless stated otherwise.

Cargo Berths

Oil Tankers drawing up to 10.4 m (34.1 ft) draught with LOA up to 213.4m
(700 ft) and DWT up to 40,000 tonnes.
Tankers up to LOA 183 m (600 ft), DWT up to 52,000 tonnes and maximum
draught of 10 m (32.8 ft.) shall be allowed for berthing.
(a) Tankers drawing up to 10.70m (35.1 ft) LOA up to
213.4m (700 ft)
and DWT up to 40,000 tonnes.
(b) If a tanker of 213 m is berthed at Oil Jetty No. 2 the length of the
vessel at Oil Jetty No. 3 shall not exceed 183m.
Oil tankers drawing up to 10.70m (35.1 ft) draught LOA up to 216 m and
DWT up to 56,000 tonnes are permissible.
Tankers up to LOA 216m, DWT 45,000 tonnes with the draught of 9.5m
shall be permitted for berthing. Additional advantage of up to a maximum
draught of 10.7m shall be allowed depending upon the height of next low
water.
Ships drawing up to 10.1m draught, LOA up to 216 m and DWT up to
45,000 tonnes shall be permitted.
