Principal Officer ITRCDB: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jalal Arif

Contact No. 0322-7641232
Here, as Principal Officer ITRCDB, I do want to put on record that
under the visionary and blazing leadership of Prof. Dr. Iqrar
Ahmad Khan (SI), our data network team has extended their
services providing 24 hour internet connectivity without any break
to the university community and accredited their competency
using existing resources. Now boosting up the IT assistance,
network team has designed a framework stratagem of selfmanaged employees account to update their status on website.
Our IT professionals remain all time available to support and
guide the researchers, students and academic/non-academic
staffs to pilot their efficiency and exertion. All world ranking
agencies accumulate data from the websites and recently the
UAF has been ranked by NTU Rankings in agricultural sciences
at 33rd position in the Asia Pacific region and at 158th position in
the world. The HEC has rated UAF at the top position for
research output among 140 universities in the country. We are
planning to put great emphasize on dissemination of research
output that is being produced faster than ever and its translation
into goods and services and timely updated on university website.
Now a days we are working hard to get the place in QS world
ranking, a high profile ranking agency for universities on world
level, and updating & developing new modules. UAF Initiative on
Internet and Society is a step into exploring, understanding and
trying to comprehend cyberspace and get solution of the
problems. We have recently established the cross-university
interdisciplinary Research Initiative on Internet and Society. We
are exploring the development of cyberspace, to facilitate its
study, to better understand its relationships to business,
technological, economic, social, legal and other dimensions of the
university community. Going forward, the immediate focus will be
on the content itself. We will identify other content areas besides
internet connectivity that can help to expand innovative research
and solutions to the end users. We will also develop protocols for
evaluation of the program itself. This includes designing
instruments to measure learning over time as well as indicators
for student engagement and other such factors that contribute to
the overall success of the program. Were open
to collaborating with people who can help us develop the content
as well as scale up the program itself. Network and software
development are the two components of the program that have
taken following initiatives to facilitate the community.
NETWORK SECTION (Focal Person: Mr. Wasi Ahmad,

Information Technology has become everyday need. Teaching
Research without IT services cannot be imagined anymore. At
UAF the main effort to provide such services was through a
project Campus-wide Networking and Computerization of
University of Agriculture, Faisalabad by using Fiber Optics which
was completed in 2004. It supported to 400 nodes of Network
which has increased to 1500 nodes in 2008 and the existing
infrastructure could not support the increasing demand of
Network and software as many integrated modules of
Management Information system and Dynamic Website of the
university has already been developed. Under another project
entitled Strengthening of Educational & Research Facilities at
U.A. Faisalabad, student hostels were connected to the existing
server room, it is expected that it will further overburdened the
existing facilities. Consequently Up gradation/Strengthening of
I.T Infrastructure was launched under the mega project for
expansion and up gradation of internet, web and software
facilities to entertain in reliable manners at UAF. A new well
equipped Data Centre has been developed. Previous hardware
has been updated in the Main and Old campuses and all the
students hostels have been provided with a wireless facility as
well. To provide IT services in lucrative manners a separate

Student Record Branch Information System
