ROTARY CLUB OF HOLY SPIRIT

Rotary International District 3780

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Christmas is the commemoration of God's greatest GIFT to us: the
birth of His .Son; Jesus Christ. What could be the best way to
show our appreciation in receiving God's Greatest Gift but to also
Give and Share our blessings to others. A Gift from God to us, a
Gift from us to others.
Looking back, I and the Rotary Club of Holy Spirit have been busy
buying, packing, and giving packs of goodies to our less privileged
neighbors, our adopted Special Kids, and our adopted day-care
center children. We continued with our monthly Oriental Medical
mission, Dental mission, and Milk-Feeding program. It is a tiring December but worth every breath, every drop of sweat and
tear.
Truly, Giving creates a surge of positivism. Isn't the real essence
of Rotary ? As we embrace Giving, we Light up the lives of Others. As we Light up the lives of others, we Lift up ourselves to Him
and say Thank You,
May the Light be upon us as we continue to Light the lives of other
people!
Merry Christmas fellow Rotarians and partners.

Dec 21. Holy Spirit fetes youth service partners in fun-filled thanksgivingfellowship Christmas party
RC Holy Spirit tendered a Christmas Party for the Rotaractors
and Interactors of Holy Spirit on Sunday, December 21, 2014.
The event was held as a means of expressing appreciation for
the youths active participation in the delivery of Rotary service
to less fortunate members of the community and for consistent
demonstration of service-above-self mindset during numerous
project engagements in the last twelve (12) months.
The event, planned, designed and executed by the youth
themselves, with the theme Unmask the Essence of Christmas, was also an opportunity to welcome and to build acquaintance and fellowship with the newly-formed Rotaract Club
of Central Institute of Technology. RCHS now has three (3)
youth service groups as partners:

Some 42 Interactors and Rotaractors were joined in by Rotarians and they all enjoyed the exciting program which lasted
from 6:00 pm through 1:00 am. Kudos to RaC President Harold Maggay, PN Lovely Rose Paalisbo, Chair Jayson Monte de
Ramos and Aileen Claire Mesias of the RaC of Holy Spirit., for
staging the enjoyable affair. Game and raffle prizes were
aplenty.
This is the 4th annual Christmas thanksgiving party for youth
service partners of RC Holy Spirit.
Venue was the residence of Marcia and Ric Salvador at Don
Antonio Heights. Marcia and Ric were also the principal sponsors with support from other leaders and members of RC Holy
Spirit.

From Dec 18. Rotaractors and Interactors of Holy Spirit sing Christmas
carols to cheer selected homes while they raise funds for their projects

Selected members of the Interact and Rotaract

Clubs went around Don Antonio Heights, accompanied by PP Marcia Salvador, to sing Christmas carols for the purpose of raising funds for
their projects and training programs.
PP Marcia brought them to the homes of friends
in the village. Special thanks to Mr & Mrs Romy
dela Cruz, Mrs Gloria Demetillo, Dr Jean Duque,
Atty Raul Oracion, Mr & Mrs Cesar Tongson for
accepting the youth to their homes and for their
kind generosity. Thanks also to Mrs Boots Urbanes who sent her donation for the youths ac-

tivities.
Members of the community readily shared their
blessings with the carollers as theyve seen the
Rotaractors and Interactors in action during service projects like medical-dental missions, antirabies dog vaccination campaigns, anti-dengue
mosquito spraying, and gift-giving events.
The carollers were led by Rotaract Service Projects Chair Jayson Monte de Ramos.

Dec 15. Holy Spirit cheers up 95 special children, their parents and teachers with gifts and surprises during annual Christmas program
The Christmas program of the Special Education Center in
Dona Juana Elementary School dubbed Kasiyahan, Kagalakan sa Kapaskuhan was held on December 15, 2014 at
the schools multi-purpose hall.
The SPED Center presently has 95 enrolees with various special needs (intellectual disability, hearing impairment, Autism,
learning disability). The five SPED teachers led by Master
Teacher Gloria Tatad organized the program in coordination
with RCHS.
This is an annual Christmas event of the club with the SPED
pupils. RCHS brought toys that elicited much joy and excitement to the children whose eyes lit up on seeing what they had
wished for through their teachers.
The program started after the hearing-impaired students led all
in a prayer. Afterwards, everybody enjoyed the dance presentation, fun games, Jollibee meals and the most-awaited giftgiving. Master Teacher Gloria Tatad and her colleagues were
profuse with thanks to RCHS for the love extended to their pupils over the years.
BC President Marites Nepomuceno and PP Marcia Salvador
shared Christmas messages with the children, their parents
and teachers. Chair Ric Salvador and Rtn Jerry Sy were also
on hand in sharing the toys and cheers.

Youth members of the Sion Oriental Medical Mission Center
assisted in preparing the medicines prescribed by Dr Bong.
Our regular partner in Oriental medical missions held in Bgy
Holy Spirit, the Salamat sa Biyaya Foundation, referred the patients from the poor neighbourhoods in the barangay.

These Oriental medical missions are performed by

IPP Dr. Eui Bong Jung and Korean youth volunteers of the Sion Oriental Medical Mission Center.
Missions in Barangay Holy Spirit are held with assistance from members of RC Holy Spirit, the Rotaract Club of Holy Spirit, and the Interact Club of
Holy Spirit National High School as needed.
Salamat sa Biyaya Foundation refers patients from
poor neighbourhoods in the parish of St Benedict,
and handles reception & registration.
Missions in Barangay Payatas are assisted by the
church-based CDP Center staff.
A mission typically involves free consultation, free
herbal medicines and vitamin supplements. Free
acupuncture is administered by Dr Bong based on
patients condition.

WHAT IS ORIENTAL MEDICINE?

Korean medicine (Hangul: , Hanja: ) refers to the traditional medical science that originated in ancient Imperial
China and was further developed and practiced in Korea. Its techniques in treatment and diagnosis of diseases are developed
from the scientific foundation, the ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM; simplified Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: zhng y; literally: "Chinese
medicine") is a broad range of medicine practices sharing common concepts which have been developed in China and are
based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage (Tui
na), exercise (qigong), and dietary therapy.[1] It is primarily used as a complementary alternative medicine approach.[1] TCM is
widely used in China and it is also used in the West.[1]
