ThespatialzoningofDansanliHousecontainsprimarylivingspace,suchaslivingroom,
diningroom(kitchen),masterbedroom,andalsosupplementarylivingspacelike
guestroomandspareroomsthatcouldbeutilizedforvariousactivitiesincludingmusicand
LongitudinalSection
prayers.Thefloorplanwasdesignedtoseparatelivingroom,diningroom,andguestroom
accordingtotheiratmosphericandemotionalaspects.

Variousareasoftheplanbecomeeachothersview(*crossingviewandtheoutside
scenery)andbackground.Thelivingroomwidelyspreadsfromthecentralpoint,the
fireplace,anditsspacemaximizestheamountoflightexposureinthemorning.Like
traditionalKoreanhouses,thekitchenisplacedinthecenterofthewholehousetobethe
verticalandhorizontalfocalpoint.Thelayoutconnectsthelineofviewfromthekitchento
thedeckandlivingroom,andfromthekitchentothecourtyard,balcony,andguestroom.
ThiswasachievedbyinterpretingthetraditionalKoreanarchitecturaltechniquesthat
coordinatemovementandrest,oropenandclose.
Masterbedroomisprivateduetotheborderingbathroomwithnowindowsandadressing
roomtothewest.Also,theoutdoorshowerwasaddedforsummer.Thestairsincorporated
moderndesignandfacethecourtyardwiththeskylightbriningthefocustothetop.Inthe
secondfloor,thewindowswereminimizedtogivetheoutsidesceneryasenseofrarity.
Windowscanbeopenedandcloseddependingontheoutsideweather,andtheyare
designedtopromoteinterplaybetweenthelightandthebuildingswallsandfloors.The
exteriorfinishusedmaterialsthatseemtoblendinwiththesurroundingnature.Infact,the
exposedmassconcreteandcedarfinishseemconsistentwithDansanlistruecharacter.
Architectureisoftenobjectifiedbyitsexternalcharacters.However,thetruespiritof
architectureisrepresentedbyitsuseofspaceandtheorderwithin.Thespace,visual
guide,andfloorplanningcouldcontroltheactionsofthosethatusethebuilding.
Architecture,ultimately,isaformofhumanexpression.
Architectureisalivingprocessthatconsidersitsuse,size,presentationandvarious
theories.Finehouseholdsarecompletedbytheuserslessonsofthepastanddreamsof
thefuture,aswellaslifephilosophies.Therefore,interpretationofpurposeandthe
understandingofhumanconditionsarethekeystogreatarchitecture.
