Topics to be Covered
The topics covered in class 2 (with the exception of the implicit function
theorem) are all more important than the topics covered in class 3, because the
class 2 topics are things that you will use all the time, whereas the class 3 topics
are things you will use some of the time.
The absolute minimum level of knowledge that you must have from class 3
is:
No matrices that are not square matrices have an inverse. Some square
matrices do not have inverses. There are things called rank and determinant that tell you whether a square matrix has an inverse. The denitions
of rank and determinant and how to nd them are not essential.
