HespokeinparablesbecauseHedidnotwanteveryonetounderstandthetruemeaning.The
followingbiblestudyexplainsthetruemeaningofTheparableofthesower.
Jesuswasteachingbytheseasidetoagreatmanypeople,somanypeoplethathesatinthe
seatoteachthemandtheystayedonland.
Andhebeganagaintoteachbytheseaside:andtherewasgathereduntohimagreat
multitude,sothatheenteredintoaship,andsatintheseaandthewholemultitude
wasbytheseaontheland.Mark4:1
Jesustaughtthemmanydifferentthingsbutheonlyspokeinparables.
Andhetaughtthemmanythingsbyparables,andsaiduntotheminhisdoctrine,Mark
4:2
Jesustoldthestoryoftheparableofthesower
HearkenBehold,therewentoutasowertosow:Mark4:3
Onemanwassowingseedsandsomeoftheseedsfelloutsidetherowsandthebirdscame
andatetheseedsup.
Anditcametopass,ashesowed,somefellbythewayside,andthefowlsoftheair
cameanddevoureditup.Mark4:4
Someoftheseedshesowedfellonstonygroundanddidnottakeafirmrootsotheplants
sprunguprightawaybutdidnotsurvivebecausethesunscorchedthemandtheywithered
away.
Andsomefellonstonyground,whereithadnotmuchearthandimmediatelyit
sprangup,becauseithadnodepthofearth:Mark4:5
Butwhenthesunwasup,itwasscorchedandbecauseithadnoroot,itwithered
away.Mark4:6
Someoftheseedshesowedfellamongthornsandthethornsgrewupandovertookthe
youngplantschokingthemsotheydidnotproduce.
Andsomefellamongthorns,andthethornsgrewup,andchokedit,andityieldedno
fruit.Mark4:7
Someoftheseedshesowedfellongoodground,theirrootswereestablishedandthey
producedalotofgoodfruit.

 Andotherfellongoodground,anddidyieldfruitthatsprangupandincreasedand
broughtforth,somethirty,andsomesixty,andsomeanhundred.Mark4:8
Jesusspokeinparablestellingastorythathasahiddenmeaning.Hegavehintstothe
peoplethattherewasanothermeaningtotheparablebytellingthemtolistenclosely,saying
"Hethathathearstohear,lethimhear"whichindicatesthatnoteveryonewhoheardthe
parablescouldunderstandthetruemeaning.
Andhesaiduntothem,Hethathathearstohear,lethimhear.Mark4:9
AfterwardsJesuswasalonewiththetwelveapostles(disciples)theyaskedhimwhyhespoke
inparables.
Andwhenhewasalone,theythatwereabouthimwiththetwelveaskedofhimthe
parable.Mark4:10
Jesustoldthetwelveapostlesthathespokeinparablesbecauseitwasnotmeantfor
everyonetoknowthetruemeaningofhisteachings.Indicatingthatthereweresomepeople
whocannotunderstandbecausethentheywouldknowthetruth,andbyknowingthetruth
theycouldbeforgivenoftheirsins.
Andhesaiduntothem,Untoyouitisgiventoknowthemysteryofthekingdomof
God:butuntothemthatarewithout,allthesethingsaredoneinparables:Mark4:11
Thatseeingtheymaysee,andnotperceiveandhearingtheymayhear,andnot
understandlestatanytimetheyshouldbeconverted,andtheirsinsshouldbe
forgiventhem.Mark4:12
Andhesaiduntothem,Knowyenotthisparable?andhowthenwillyeknowall
parables?Mark4:13
ThesowerJesusspokeofwasnotactuallysomeonesowingseedsinthegroundbutrather
sowingthewordofGodinpeoplesmindsandhearts.
Thesowersoweththeword.Mark4:14
Theseeds(thewordofGod)thatwassownbythewaysidewasactuallywhenyouhearthe
wordofGodbutSatanstealsthewordofGodfromyousothatyouwillnothearor
understandit.
Andthesearetheybythewayside,wherethewordissownbutwhentheyhave
heard,Satancomethimmediately,andtakethawaythewordthatwassownintheir

Theseeds(thewordofGod)thatwassownonstonygroundmeansthatwhenyouhearthe
wordofGodyoulistenandfeelhappybutafteryouleaveandgoaboutyourdailylivesyou
forgetaboutwhatyoulearned.Thenwhensomethinggoeswrong,youwanttoblameGod.
Andthesearetheylikewisewhicharesownonstonygroundwho,whentheyhave
heardtheword,immediatelyreceiveitwithgladnessMark4:16
Andhavenorootinthemselves,andsoendurebutforatime:afterward,when
afflictionorpersecutionarisethfortheword'ssake,immediatelytheyareoffended.

Theseeds(thewordofGod)thatwassownamongthethornsarewhenyouheartheword
butotherthingsinthisworldaremoreimportanttoyoulikemoney,lust,andmaterialthings,
soyouforgetaboutthewordofGodandpayattentiononlytogettingthethingsthatyouwant.
Andthesearetheywhicharesownamongthornssuchasheartheword,Mark4:18
Andthecaresofthisworld,andthedeceitfulnessofriches,andthelustsofother
thingsenteringin,choketheword,anditbecomethunfruitful.Mark4:19
Theseeds(thewordofGod)whicharesownongoodgroundiswhenyouhearandreceive
thewordofGod,thenputittouseinyourlifebysharingitwithothers,helpingothers,and
showingthemthewaytogetsaved,andtodoGod'swill.
Andthesearetheywhicharesownongoodgroundsuchasheartheword,and
receiveit,andbringforthfruit,somethirtyfold,somesixty,andsomeanhundred.Mark

Forthereisnothinghid,whichshallnotbemanifestedneitherwasanythingkept
secret,butthatitshouldcomeabroad.Mark4:22

Jesuswarnsustobecarefulofwhatwesayanddo
Becarefulwhatyouchoosetolistento,becarefulhowyoumeasureorjudgeothersbecause
thatishowyouwillbemeasured.Forthoseofyouwhohearandunderstandthewordof
GodmoreofGod'swordwillbegiventoyouthanothers.WhenyouhearGod'swordmake
sureitisfallingongoodgroundsothatyoudonotloseorhavestolenfromyoutheprecious
wordsofGod.

theyweretodieinthestorm.Jesuswokeupandtoldthewind"Peace,bestill"andthestorm
stopped,allwascalmagain.ThetwelveapostleswerescaredofJesuswhentheyseenthis
becausetheyrealizedhowmuchpowerHereallyhad.
Andwhentheyhadsentawaythemultitude,theytookhimevenashewasintheship.

Andtherearoseagreatstormofwind,andthewavesbeatintotheship,sothatitwas
nowfull.Mark4:37
Andhewasinthehinderpartoftheship,asleeponapillow:andtheyawakehim,and
sayuntohim,Master,carestthounotthatweperish?Mark4:38
Andhearose,andrebukedthewind,andsaiduntothesea,Peace,bestill.Andthe

HowYouCanMakeSureGodsWordFallsonGoodGround
InordertomakesurethatGod'swordfallsongoodgroundyoumustprepareyourselfto
acceptHisword.
PutonthefullarmorofGod.
Beforeyoustudy,prayforHisguidance,understanding,andknowledge.AskGodtoshow
youclearlythemeaningofHiswordandtogiveyouaspiritofdiscernmentwhenyouare
listeningtoothers.Becarefulwhatyouputinyourmind.Youareaccountableforyour
thoughtsaswellasdeedssoitisveryimportanttomakesureyourthoughtsareinlinewith
thewillofGod.Prayandstudyyourbibleeverydaytomakesureyouarenotdeceivedby
anyoneoranything.StopwatchinganddoingthingsthatyouknowarenotwhatGodwants.
TrytolearnsomethingintheBibleeverydaythatyoucansharewithsomeoneelse.Be
fruitful.LettheseedgrowandblossomandyouwillberewardedbyyourFatherwhoisthe
rewarderofthosewhodiligentlyseekHim.
