1.1.1 Office + Reception

Office and Reception Area is located on the ground floor, facing Jalan Gereja. It is exposed to
daylighting on three sides, to cut down the use of energy during daytime.

Floor Area
Window (glazed) Area
Opening (unglazed) Area
Total window/ Opening area
Daylight Factor (DF)

6m x 2.5m = 15m2
5.9m x 0.9m = 5.3m2
0.9m x 2.1m = 1.9m2
7.2m2
7.2/15
= 0.48
= 4.8% (x0.1)
= 4.8%

The daylight factor of the Office + Reception is 4.8% which is good day lighting conditions.
Natural Illumination Calculation:
Given Eo = 32000 lux
DF = (Ei/Eo) x 100%
0.48 = (Ei/ 32000) x 100%
Ei = 0.048 x 32000
= 1536 lux

10.5m2
10.5/14
= 0.75
= 7.5% (x0.1)
= 7.5%

The daylight factor of the Fashion Shop is 7.5% showing thermal glare issue. Proper shadings and overhang should
be applied to shade from direct sunlight.
Natural Illumination Calculation:
Given Eo = 32000 lux
DF = (Ei/Eo) x 100%
0.75 = (Ei/ 32000) x 100%
Ei = 0.075 x 32000
= 2400 lux

Daylight Factor (DF)

3.75m x 6.5m = 24.4m2

7.4m2 + 4.2m2 = 11.6m2
4m x 2.1m = 8.4m2
20m2
20/24.4
= 0.82
= 8.2% (x0.1)
= 8.2%

The daylight factor of the Bar/Caf is 8.2% which show thermal glare problem. Vertical louvers/ shading or blinds
should be applied on the window to share it from the western sun.
Natural Illumination Calculation:
Given Eo = 32000 lux
DF = (Ei/Eo) x 100%
0.82 = (Ei/ 32000) x 100%
Ei = 0.082 x 32000
= 2624 lux

Conclusion:
The Artist Workshop Studio is located at the front facing Jalan
Gereja. There should be adequate sunlight to illuminate the
workshop, however the area would require a certain lux level
for it to operate properly. Due to the activity of this area,
adequate lighting level is needed to ease the task of the
design artist to carry out their task.

Fitting Layout
Conclusion:
More intensity of sunlight enter from the north where day lighting are applied near area facing north window
while artificial lighting will have to be applied deeper into the interior. Amount of luminaires needed at north
faade of counter area is less, hence further space between luminaires and wall compared to the north
side. The luminaires at the north side are not switched on during daytime to conserve energy. Track lighting
as task lighting is applied at the counter for food preparation.

Conclusion:
The reverberation time for the upcycled shop is 1.18s. Since the shops
are all individual small shop where it couldnt accommodate too much
people, the assumption of having 5 customer in a shop wouldnt
produce too much noise whereby it would affect spaces outside of the
shops. This will allow a pleasant walking n shopping experience for the
customer around the market.

The transmission loss from the main road is 39 dB. After transmission loss the sound
pressure level of the workshop is 34dB. The workshop is fulfilling the standard requirements
based on MS1525 in which the standard SPL of a workshop is 3dB. Work will be done
within the workshop hence a high STC rating is needed.
