Subject: Proposal for Case on an Entrepreneur

Dear Sir

It is with great honor and privilege that I present to you my proposal for writing a case on an
entrepreneur assigned to us as part of your wonderfully outlined course, Entrepreneurship
W301.

This proposal points out the specifics of my plan for the case based on an entrepreneur
whom I personally know and hence chosen as the subject of my writing. His entrepreneurial
venture has also been mentioned. This proposal contains all the information required as per
instruction in class to the best of my knowledge.

I hope that you will be kind enough to accept my proposal and let me work on the success
story of a model entrepreneur and present it in such a fashion so that the readers become
inspired and maybe become more interested in entrepreneurship.

Yours Sincerely

Maruf Hassan
BBA 20, ZR 14

Origin of the Proposal

As a requirement for completing the course K301: Entrepreneurship, this proposal on
developing a case for an entrepreneur of your choice has been prepared. This task was
assigned by the course teacher Mr. A. K. M. Saiful Majid, Professor, Institute of Business
Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.
Working on this case help the author learn about the stages of initiation, challenges,
development of an entrepreneurs work from a practical view point from which he hopes to
gain valuable knowledge which would profit him not only when he decides to start his own
entrepreneurship venture but also in his regular life and his work life. This work will also act
as a source of immense encouragement for the author and the readers planning to pursue
their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs.
This proposal is a requirement to the abovementioned case and is thus submitted for your
approval.

Objectives
The objectives of the development of the case on an Entrepreneur are as follows:

Get a taste of entrepreneurial spirit

Get an understanding if the basic requirements to start your entrepreneurship

Get an understanding of how the entrepreneurial mind works

Get a firsthand experience of the ups and downs of an entrepreneurs journey

Get an idea of how an entrepreneur converts threats to opportunities, innovates or

improves

Get an idea of what separates a successful entrepreneur from a failed one

To verify the appropriateness of the trait theory of entrepreneurs

Proposed Lead
Below is a proposed lead subject to availability and decision of the course instructor:
Fayaz Taher - a serial entrepreneur, investor, mentor and a

startup community advocate from Bangladesh and the

current CEO of Fortuna, an innovative group of
companies invested across various industries. He started
his first venture at the age of 13 starting in retail and later went
on to found Fortuna Fried Chicken while he was in High
School.

Methodology
The data required to construct the case will be collected from personal interviews of
entrepreneur. Secondary data sources such as newspaper articles of the entrepreneur will
also be taken into consideration. Theoretical data will be collected from reference books
recommended by course instructor and will be used to connect the case to study materials
thought in the course where appropriate.
The case will be modelled after the Clippykit goes from bags to reaches published in the
Telegraph in February 6 2009, What we can learn from the latest members of the billionaire
entrepreneurs club: Reed Hastings, Co-Founder of Netflix published in EntreHub in June 10
2014 and A young entrepreneurs story published in Business Case Studies UK.
The development of case will entail the following steps:
1. Teaching objective
2. Identify case lead
3. Collect information on case
4. Write case and get permission from case subject
5. Write Learning Objectives and Case Questions
The main focus of the case would be on the initiation or the triggering point and the
development or the growth of the entrepreneurialism of the subject. These two are the most
important aspects of an entrepreneurs journey and therefore will be get the most attention.
Throughout the case, comparison, albeit subtle, will be made between the traits of the
entrepreneur in focus and the 10 Ds of model of an Entrepreneur as proposed by William D.
Graves. Also how related the 10 myths of entrepreneurship actually are to business ventures
will be studied.
