ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN ORACLE DBA:

DATABASE ADMINISTRATION
Installation of Oracle package, Database Setup: This involves the creation of new databases
and the initial space allocations of the database’s tablespaces and primary storage objects
decided in consultation with the respective departments. Alert log monitoring providing
support to end users and developers, which involves troubleshooting user problems.

SPACE MANAGEMENT
Monitoring the database growth on daily basis, modification of databases, addition of
tablespaces, datafiles and modification of tablespaces, datafiles. Modification and addition of
primary storage objects. Forecasting database growth.

BACKUP AND RECOVERY

Establish and maintain healthy backup & recovery strategies and procedures. Performing Hot
backup. Maintaining high database availability for supporting non-stop business operations.
Recovering the database without or minimal loss of data. Evaluating the backup & recovery
procedures on a test database to minimize the loss on Real Time Scenario.

SECURITY
Implement and maintain database security. Creating / Altering / Dropping Users as and when
required and administer their respective quotas. Create and maintain roles and assign
necessary privileges to users according to business rules.

responsible for installation and administration of Oracle Database and its tools on various
Operating Systems, such as Windows NT 4.0,Unix Server 4.0,the role also includes installation
of Operating Systems.

And concor is Container Corporation of India it is central government. And Indian based
company. Configured RAC and setup physical standby database. And NIC is National
Insurance corporation working in RAC databases.

Responsible for monitoring production and development environment and also responsible for
up gradation. Responsible for physical design and implementing the database, including
memory and disk space allocation. Logical database design including creation and sizing of
logical storage structures such as table spaces, tables and indexes.
BACKUP AND RECOVERY:

Responsible for taking and deciding the suitable kind of backup

Written scripts for taking the both kind of backups (Online & Offline backup)
RMAN Backups for 10g RAC databases.
