Insights from the Psychometric Instruments

The psychometric instruments have given an implicit understanding of my personality. Certain areas,
which we are unaware of, were brought to surface with these instruments. A mirror to hidden traits in a
person, these psychometric tests have given me the understanding of facets unseen or unnoticed or
blatantly ignored.

My Personality
Having gone through the test, there are some factors that came to know about myself. I always thought
of myself as being a sensitive yet rational person. I believe that my behavior reflects me being of
sensitive nature. Im a person who gets affected with the little things in life a disgruntled friend, an
unhappy teacher or not meeting my parents expectations these are things that have bothered me and
at time driven me to the extent of crying and cornering myself. I have always believed that I understand
others emotions as well as I feel mine. However this was not reflected in the scores I got in this segment.
I do not personally believe in these scores, however, understanding the significance of the test and the
reflection it gives us, I am trying to make a conscious effort to consider other peoples emotions and
their outlets for the same.
Having ranked highly in Independence & Courage and Reality Content, these two are the regions where
my scores reflect my belief about myself. I personally pride myself to be an independent woman, ready
to take up challenges and give them my best. I believe that I am a person who makes her decisions on a
realistic front rather than on ideal situations. I am a person who questions the beliefs and does not
follow the rules of the society blindly. Getting high scores on these two fronts have strengthen my
belief in these capabilities of mine; ones I wish to continue to remain so.
Though my scores do not feature in the types of creativity, I firmly believe my true potential lies in
Entrepreneurial Innovation and this is the way forward for my dream. Having dreamt of my own
venture, I shall pursue it with more persistence now that my beliefs in myself have been strengthened
by this instrument.

My Preferences
This instrument depicted lifelong creativity. I got scores below the average of 32%. Scoring highest in
Competence Motive, it gave an understanding that this trait of mine can facilitate the form of creativity I
choose to undertake. A huge advantage, it provides me with freedom to choose the field where I want
to pursue my dream. Having the ability to decide this, I believe that I can polish my Pioneering
Innovative Motive and Self-Actualization Motive to improve my lifelong creativity.

Blocks to Creativity
I have high scores in Fear of Uncertainty/Ambiguity depicting to my tendency to avoid uncertain
situations. I do not feel this is a bad trait to possess as I believe this helps me channelize my energy in
more productive and important tasks than beat around the bush. I am a person who wishes to be direct
and to the point.
Having a low score in Fear of Social Disapproval, it shows how the opinions of the society play little
importance to me. Though it is a good trait considering it provides me to venture out in fields the society
might not agree on without their fear, however it shows an antisocial aspect of my personality. It shows
how my society has no bearing on my behaviour. This possess a threat of having a social life beyond the
work culture. This might not bode well in my social acceptance as a person or my ideas.

My Environment
My creative environment has been conducive to creativity all through. I always got the resources or the
encouragement to pursue my creative abilities and encouraged to get the best at them. I have been
taught to play the sitar and by one of the best teachers possible, my interest in dance was never curbed
even though I had a personal fear in dancing in front of a crowd. My family has been encouraging to the
extent of organising an entire event during my sisters wedding just so that I could dance and because it
was my deep seeded desire to do so.

Action Plan to Improve My Creativity

After completing the various instruments to judge myself and my traits, I believe that this activity has
strengthened my belief in myself on some fronts and been a wakeup call on certain other fronts. I
believe that I do possess creative abilities which are being held back by my own fears and constraints
which I have to break away from. Working on these areas, like sensitivity, acceptance from society, fear
of humiliation, might prove to be the game changer in terms of my creativity. My environment is giving
me all the opportunities to be creative and get what I want to, it is from within myself that I need to
bring changes to tap into my actual potential and achieve my creative dream.
