Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board (KVWSMB)
Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board (KVWSMB or Board) is an
autonomous government body formed under Water Supply Management Board Act,
2063. The reporting line ministry of the Board is Ministry of Physical Planning and
Works.

Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL)
Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) is a public company registered
under the Nepal Governments Company Act 2063, with objective to undertake and
management of the water supply and sanitation system of the valley operated by
NWSC and provides quantitative, qualitative and reliable service to the consumer on
their full satisfaction at affordable price.

Project Implementation Directorate (PID)
Started in 21 December 2000, Melamchi Water Supply Project (MWSP) is an Asian
Development Bank assisted project which aims to improve the overall scenario of the
water and wastewater utility of the Kathmandu Valley. MWSP covers a part of
Indrawati and Bagmati watershed and includes areas of five districts. The key water
diversion facilities are located within Sindhupalchowk and Kavrepalanchowk districts,
whereas, water treatment plant, water distribution and the ancillary structures, are
located within Kathmandu valley.

Town Development Fund (TDF)
In the context of rapidly growing urbanization process and at the same time financial,
technological and administrative deficiencies at the municipal levels, HMG/Nepal in
accordance with the Development Board Act, 1956 had established Town
Development Fund (TDF) in February 1988 with a view to assist the municipalities in
their efforts of overall development.

Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC)
Afer realizing demanding of conduit water in Kathmandu valley, government had
established a systematic development of water supply system with the PANI ADDA
(PANI GOSWARA) unit in 2029 B.S. (May 1973A.D.). His Majestry's Government of
Nepal had developed Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NSSC) Act, in
Feburary,1990. Under this act NWSC has blooming drinking water supply services in
twenty three urban ares in different part of country.

Melamchi Water Supply Development Board (MWSDB)
Melamchi Water Supply Development Board (MWSDB) has been established by the
government of Nepal in November 9, 1998 (2055/7/23 BS) as an implementing
agency of Melamchi water supply project.

Singhdurbar Secretariat Reconstruction Committee
In June 1973, the Singha Durbar palace which housed almost all the total
government offices caught fire and was brought to the ground except for the front
wing of the first chowk. At present the various ministries and department are
scattered all over kathmandu and patan, some of them being housed in private
residential building and other in very old nonfunctional building.

High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of The Bagmati Civilization


The Bagmati River is the largest river in the capital city of Kathmandu Valley which
comprises 57 rivers and rivulets as its tributaries. It originates from Bagdwar,
bifurcates Kathmandu valley in to two parts and crosses the valley at Chovar. Threre
are so many shrines and cemeteries located in its bank. Gokarneshwar, Guheshwari
and Pashupatinath temples are famous shrines enlisted in the World Heritage which
reflects its importance to all the races of human civilization.

Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (RWSSFDB)
Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (RWSSFDB) is
promoting demand-driven community based approach in water supply and sanitation
sector in Nepal by mobilizing non-governmental and private sector organizations in
assisting communities to implement water supply and sanitation schemes.

Policy and strategy


Historical and cultural heritage conservation and urban vidhasa (Strategy 1 union affiliated)

Urban basic services, facilities and parvadharako development and expansion, urban

Tourist and cultural centers in Kathmandu Valley Development (Strategy 2 union affiliated)

The concept of integrated and coordinated development of the Kathmandu valley will be carried
forward. The concept of the Kathmandu Valley and other study based on the concept of
bisavarso development policy of urban expansion are arranged will be adopted. Adverse impact
on the environment as well as the Valley Industry and harassment of other activities affecting
information technology, environmental friendly replacement policy will be adopted by industry.
Integrated urban development policy and urban development will be directed to particular
geographical location.
Kathmandu Valley and the city's sphere of influence who majhaulastaraka upanagaraharuko be
integrated fully developed. Featured needs a new suburb (Sattelite town) or village center will
be developed.
The construction of urban infrastructure and the private sector to mobilize resources from the

On the initiative of the local body of water municipality, electricity, telephone, roads and
sanitation facilities by the minimum service will be developed.
Local bodies in urban management and the ability to mobilize resources will be enhanced.

In view of the trend of population growth and migration-migration of rural market development
and urbanization top priority will be organized.

mobilized.
