Programs:

Objectives:
Learn the design process and create an engaging flier that
communicates the message to the target audience.

Description:
Create a flier notifying graduates of a leadership conference.

Process:
By using the FOCUS steps of design I needed to communicate a message.
I studied the lifestyle of a college senior and what concerns and
schedule they have. I used this to help me with my design decisions.
I then sketched out several ideas of how the flier could look and
feel. Then choosing the best sketch I then created the flier
using Adobe InDesign. After getting some critique from
pears and family I then finalized the design.

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Objective:
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four
quality images, not including the logo. One should be clipped
in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows
the cutout shape of the image.

Description:
We were asked to create a brochure on a subject that I was interested in.
We needed to create a logo in illustrator and use Photoshop to cut out a
photograph and have wrapped text around the cut-out image.

Process:
I first had to come up with a subject that I felt strongly
enough that I would want to stay motivated for since it is
getting close to the end of the semester. I used illustrator
to create my logo and thought of adding the html tag
symbols to the logo to help add to the concept of
web design. I used one of the layouts that I did
in class for this project.

Programs:
Adobe Dreamweaver

Objective:
Aquire working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Create an
original logo and describe the process on the web page.

Description:
Create a web page layout that would work well with a logo that you
have previously created. Demonstrate your ability to work with the
programming languages of html as well as css.

Process:
As was mentioned in the description the use of the programming
languages of html as well as css was used to control the design
layout of the web page. I used Photoshop and illustrator to
help with the layout of the logo as well as the diamonds
used in the list points. After pushing the site to the
chrome web browser I was able to use the inspect
element tool to work with the layout and see what
the changes would look like. It is a great method
because you are able to see real time feedback
from the code you enter.

Programs:
Adobe Photoshop

Objective:
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually,
using masks. Also demonstrate more advanced Photoshop
skills for layout with multiple elements.

Description:
Create a montage of images that has a spiritual message.

Process:
I went through the media library the church had to find my photos. I
was wanting a message that was simple but also had a neat concept.
I found the quote from Elder Ballard and knew that I had to
use it. The imagery in his words of pollinating made me very
interested in creating a montage around that quote. I used
photoshop to create the piece and used the selection tool
as well as a filtered layering of the images to help give
the feel of this project.

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator

Objective:
Create three completely different, original logos to fit a
company or personal image that will appeal to the audience.
Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.

Description:
The purpose of this assignment was to create three different logo designs
that communicated the message and purpose of the business.

Process:
I began with creating a business name of course I wanted to be sure
that I had some sort of business in mind as well as concept. So I
created Bolt Baby Security. It is a baby proofing service that
makes your home baby proof. I then sketched out many
different ideas and then went with my three favorites to
design in illustrator. I then tried to choose type that
would be related to both the main components
of the design Bolt & Baby. I also chose very
simple color schemes to try and keep the logo
simple.

Objective:

photodesign

Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those

colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.

Description:
Take a photo and place on a designed layout that will show off your
photo. Include a color scheme that is complementary to your photo.

Process:
I started off by brainstorming a concept that I felt would be interesting
and challenging. I took a photo of some computers. Looking at it
now I could see where I could have improved it with a tablet and
a smart phone to really show the diversity of technology. I
used a canon dslr camera to take the photo and photoshop
was used to improve the picture.

ANALOGOUS

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

Objective:

Stationary

Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a

business card and letterhead. Photos are okay on business
card and letterhead as additional design elements. Letterhead
should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim only .

Description:
Create a stationary design that portrays a business or persons values and
character.

Process:
The first portion of this project was to create a logo and then to
begin work on the stationary. After some time working on the
logo the letterhead and business card came quickly because
I was already in the mindset of the logo and I could
transition what the feeling of the logo was into the
letterhead and business card. I used illustrator to
create the logo and then I used Adobe In Design
to create the layout on the page and business
card.

Programs:
Microsoft Word

Objective:
Learn to use only Word design features without using any
Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Description:
Create an ad that would be used for a fundraiser. Need to create the
ad using only the use of Word.

Process:
The process began earlier in the week when we learned about scanning
a high quality picture. After choosing the picture I was going to use
I came up with a fundraiser idea that tied well with the picture.
I wanted my flier to appeal to my target audience. I chose
a picture with a beautiful garden landscape to catch my
audiences eye. I then had similar colors tying the entire
ad with the picture that pulled the people into the
ad. I used the word program to create the ad and
photoshop to scan and crop the image. I used
the shapes tool in word to create the circles.
