PRESS RELEASE
On November 24, 2014 I released all twenty-four volumes of
grand jury testimony containing the testimony of all 62 witnesses.
As promised, I also provided: thousands of pages of transcripts of
witness interviews conducted by the St. Louis County Police, the
FBI and/or Department of Justice civil rights attorneys; DNA,
toxicology and firearms reports; autopsy reports from the St. Louis
County Medical Examiner and a pathologist retained by Mr. Brown's
family; and, a myriad of other documents and photographs. I also
pledged that I would release any material inadvertently omitted
from the original release, specifically a recording of the shots
fired by Officer Wilson.
I have stated throughout the entire investigation and
presentation that if a no true bill was returned, I would release
all evidence presented to the grand jury, with some exceptions. The
exceptions are the autopsy photographs, scene photographs of Mr.
Brown and anything that could lead to the identity of witnesses.
That information has not and will not be released.
It was brought to my attention that I omitted the FBI
interview of Dorian Johnson. Upon review of the files, I discovered
that I had inadvertently omitted a number of witness interviews and
a few other documents which had been presented to the grand jury.
It should be noted that the sworn testimony of these witnesses,
including Johnson, was released on November 24, 2014.
On December 8, 2014 I released additional documents including:
a copy of my November 24, 2014 statement; the Department of Defense
autopsy report; additional police radio calls; and, audio of a
neighbor’s chat which captured the shots fired by Officer Wilson. I
also uploaded the statements of several witnesses. These statements
had been released on November 24 but I added the witness number so
anyone reading the statements could connect them to a particular
witness. These statements were NOT new material.Since December 8, 2014, my staff and I have been working to
prepare the omitted statements for release. They have been uploaded
and are available. They are statements taken by St. Louis County
Police, the FBI and/or Department of Justice Civil Rights Division
Attorneys from various witnesses.
Clearly, I inadvertently omitted some material from the
November 24, 2014 release and I apologize for any confusion this
may have caused. At this time, I believe I have released all
evidence presented to the grand jury. However, as I promised
throughout the investigation and again on November 24, if I later
find anything that was omitted, it will be released as soon as
possible thereafter.
Very truly yours,
OM) elo
