Annotated Bibliography Assignment (Diego Goentoro)

Stahl, Jeremy. ""9/11 Truth" Movement: How Alex Jones and Michael Ruppert Founded It."
Slate Magazine. Slate Magazine, n.d. Web. 01 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in the Slate Magazine, Jeremy Stahl discusses
the origins of 9/11 conspiracy theories. Stahl takes on a relatively neutral
standpoint evident in his writing about 9/11 conspiracy theories. The two
conspiracy theorist he writes about in the article are Alex Jones and Michael
Ruppert. He mainly focuses on Jones credibility and his firm stance on his
believe that 9/11 is an inside job by the government and Rupperts anecdote of
his father being a distinguished pilot and its unlikeliness for the 9/11 attacks to
happen the way it did. In addition, there are also conspiracy theories that Jews
were involved due to an unexplainable absence of 4000 jewish workers of the
twin towers. The audience and purpose of this article is more to inform, rather
than persuade, the general audience of the conspiracy theories that exist. In
overall, this is a very useful source because it gives me a good understanding of
the main conspiracy theories surrounding the 9/11 attacks and more importantly
led me to a paramount conspiracy theorist in Alex Jones (which I will later use
in another source).

Stahl, Jeremy. "9/11 Conspiracism: How the Iraq War Contributed to Its Rise." Slate Magazine.
Slate Magazine, n.d. Web. 01 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in the Slate Magazine, Jeremy Stahl further
discusses the conspiracy theories and its implications to his first article
(sourced above). Rather than focusing on the ideologies of conspiracy theorists,
he discusses the reason why the American government did what they did, if they
did, regarding to the 9/11 attacks. The major point Stahl elaborates in this

article is the lack of justification and support of The United States of America
to declare war with Afghanistan and Iraq if it was not because of the 9/11
attacks. The United States of America was very profitable from the war and is a
major incentive for the American government to frame Al-Queda for the attacks.
In overall, I think the article is substantiated with credible information for the
audience to holistically decide for themselves whether the 9/11 conspiracy
theories for 9/11 are facts or fictions.
Roberts, Paul C. "9/11 After 13 Years." Infowars. Infowars, 11 Sept. 2014. Web. 03 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in Infowars, Paul Craig Roberts discusses the
impact 9/11 has after 13 years. It is very crucial to note that Infowars founder
is Alex Jones, an active conspiracy theorist revolving the 9/11 attacks. The
article is bias to the existence of 9/11 conspiracy theories and deals with hand
picked facts that may not likely be reported or publicize anywhere else. The
articles main tone is the unlikeliness that the United States of America with the
resources that they had can allow something so catastrophic to happen.
Furthermore the article also debunks some of the claims the government
surrounding the events that happen in the 9/11 attack. In overall, I think is a
vital source to incorporate in the essay as it gives a very extreme perspective to
the research paper. However, it is also important to take on a holistic approach
and explore other perspectives as well.
Thomas, Dave. "The 9/11 Truth Movement: The Top Conspiracy Theory, a Decade Later." A
Center of Inquiry Affiliate. A Center of Inquiry Affiliate, Aug. 2011. Web. 04 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in CSI, Dave Thomas takes a simple three claim
approach debunking the possibility of the 9/11 being a terrorist attack and the
evidence supporting the three main claims. Claim one The Twin Towers
collapsed at free-fall accelerations through the path of greatest resistance,

claim two Nano- thermite and military grade explosives were found in dust
from the towers. Tons of melted steel were ground in tower debris. and claim
three Tower 7, which wasnt hit by a plane, collapsed neatly into its own
footprint. Thomas style of writing is very persuasive to the audience as the
main objective of the article is to convince the audience that 9/11 is an inside
job. This source is very useful for my research essay as it has many statistics
and data of the 9/11 attacks.

Engel, Pamela. "What Happened On 9/11." Business Insider. Business Insider, Inc, 11 Sept.
2013. Web. 05 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in Business Insider, Pamela Engel writes about
the events and occurrences in chronological order on September 11th, 2001. The
article consists of large graphologies to describe to the audience of the attacks.
The perspective the article takes is in the viewpoint that it is an attack by the
terrorist group Al Queda and has nothing to do with the United States of
Americas government. The information inside as it is produce by Business
Insider is one that is likely to be reported on television as it is not as
controversial as the conspiracy theories that surrounds 9/11. This is highly
valuable for my research paper as it will give my essay a holistic approach to
the different perspectives of 9/11 and how it is interpreted by different people.

"Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report." Popular Mechanics. Popular Mechanics, 03 Feb.
2005. Web. 07 Nov. 2014.

In this online article published in Popular Mechanics, the article mainly

discusses the conspiracy theories that exist and then proving it false. Even
though the article does not go through each conspiracy theory in detail, the
article mentions and acknowledges the existence to the reader but then provides

evidence for its lack of credibility and fallacious statements. This article is very
valuable for my research paper because it makes sure that my research paper has
a balance analysis and takes on a fair approach for my reader. This will allow
my reader to have a wide variety of information from different sources so they
are able to decide for themselves what is right and wrong for themselves. This
source is also very crucial in my evaluation because most of my sources used is
heavily favored on the existence of conspiracy theories while this one debunks
conspiracy theories.
