I. ADB Processing of Grant and TA


Interested proponents may contact ADB staff in ADB Country Office or at
Headquarters
The ADB staff prepares Grant or TA proposal
Office of Cofinancing reviews the proposal to ensure consistency with
JFPR objectives and guidelines set by the Government of Japan
The Government of Japan approves the project
ADB approves the project
Project Implementation: Procurement and recruitment will be in
accordance to ADBs Procurement Guidelines and Guideline on Use of
Consultant

Japanese technology and expertise
2012 JFPR TA: Applying Remote Sensing Technology in

River Basin Management

$ 2 mil Regional TA for Bangladesh, Philippines, Viet Nam


Components: (i) methodology development, (ii) strategies
and program development, and (iii) capacity building for
space based technology (SBT) and information
communication technology (ICT) for flood risk management
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)
collaborates with the project to improve the accuracy of
weather data, the use of space technology through remote
sensing.

IV. Sample Consultants Work


on JFPR Projects
2010 JFPR Grant: BHU Upgrading Schools and

Integrated Disaster Education Project


$ 3 mil project grant for Bhutan
Components: (i) restoration and Improvement of the

Learning Environment, (ii) DRM training and planning, and


(iii) project management
Japanese consultants were hired to provide (i) training on
design and construction techniques of earthquake-resilient
school buildings, and (ii) training on earthquake-resilient
building construction supervision.
