Opening statement: a lot can be learned from a person’s body language. The way
one walks, how one sits in a chair, or folds ones arms, slouches or walks up straight.
His posture tells a lot about what is going on in his mind. They want look you in the
eye, or turns their back when you enter the room. Does the person show an air of
confidence, sophistication, or is the person shy or a timid. Is she or he, a rich man,
poor man? Are they happy or sad? Oh yes a lot can be learned by one’s posture.
Let’s consider the posture of a servant
Less consider definition # 2 –a slave ( a bond servant divested of all freedom and
personal rights; a human being who is owned by and wholly subject to the will of
another, as by capture, purchase or birth.
1 Cor 6:19-20 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought
with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s
James 4:6-10 But he ( the Spirit) giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith,
God resisteth the Proud, but giveth grace unto the Humble. Submit yourselves
therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and
he will draw nigh to you, Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, he
double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to
morning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and
he shall lift you up.
James 1-3 -12 The Posture of the servant of the Lord is tried. Job
22:22-30 (Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto
thee. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart. If
thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy
tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of O-phir as the stones of the
brooks. Yea, the Almightly shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plently of silver. For
then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou
shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. Thou
shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine
upon thy ways. When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is liftingup: and he
shall save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered
by the pureness of thine hands.
1 Peter 5:6-10 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may
exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he
may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are
accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace who hath
called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after, that ye have suffered a while, make
you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
2 Timothy 2:1,3-13 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth
entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him
to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he
strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Consider what I say and the Lord give the understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus
Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to m gospel: wherein I suffer
trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I
endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in
Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is a faithful saying; for if we be dead with him, we shall
also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will
deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Consider diligently what is before thee: and put a knife to thy throat, if thou
be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
Be patience- let patience have her perfect work. That ye may be perfect and
entire, wanting nothing.
2. In that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass
away.
1 Cor. 1: 19-29 - For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and
will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is
the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the
wisdom of this world? For after that is the wisdom of God the world by wisdom know
not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ
crucified unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greek foolishness; but unto
them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and
the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and
the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling brethren,
how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many
noble, are called. But God hath chosen
As it says in Hebrew 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp,
bearing his reproach. For we have not a continuing city, but we seek one to come.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, which is the
fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. but to do good and to communicate
forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
2 Cor 4:8-12 (so then as servants) we are troubled on every side, yet not
distressed; we are perplexed but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast
down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord
Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So
then death worketh in us ( the servants of Christ) but life in you.
The prophet Isaiah 52:1-2 says, “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on
thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no
more come unto thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake thyself from the
dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem; loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O
captive daughter of Zion.
Isaiah 52:3- For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought;
and ye shall be redeemed without money.
Romans 8: 18-39 – For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not
worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of
the sons of God.
24 for we are saved by hope: but hope that is een is not hope for what a man
seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
28and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
What shall be then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against
us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not
with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay anyting to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather that is risen again.
Who is even a the right of God, who maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or
persecutions, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy
sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us,
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
power, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor dept, nor any other
creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
