JAPAN

It is an island nation in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, to the west is the Sea of Japan, China, North
Korea, South Korea and Russia, northern Okhotsk Sea and the southern East China Sea and Taiwan. The
characters that make up Japan's name mean "the sun's origin", which is why the country is also known as the
Tierra del Sol Naciente.Japn is an archipelago of 6852 islands. The Greater Tokyo Area on the island of Honshu,
which is within the Tokyo city, de facto capital of the nation, is the largest metropolitan area in the world with
more than thirty million residents.
Weather and climate
It is a rain and high humidity country, has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons well defined, thanks to
the distance that is in respect of Ecuador. Anyway, the weather is slightly cool temperate north (Hokkaido) with
strong summers and heavy snow in winter, the center of the country is hot, humid summers and short winters and
subtropical slightly south (Kyushu) with long, hot summers and wet and short mild winters. The weather is
sometimes affected by seasonal winds produced by cyclonic and anticyclonic centers are formed on the mainland
and in the Pacific (anticyclone or Hawaiian cyclone), generating winds from the continent to the Pacific in winter
and the Pacific to the continent summer.
There are two primary factors in the climatic influence: proximity to the Asian continent and ocean currents. The
weather from June to September is hot and humid tropical wind currents coming from the Pacific Ocean, from
Southeast Asia. These currents precipitate large amounts of water at landfall, so summer is a time of significant
rainfall, beginning in early June and lasts about a month. Is followed by a hot season and early August to early
September, a period of typhoons, which pass through Japan 5 or 6 of them and fail to produce significant damage.
The annual precipitation of rain is 100 to 200 centimeters, but between 70 and 80 percent of them are
concentrated in June and September.
In winter, the centers of the Siberian high pressure area and low pressure centers of the North Pacific Ocean,
generate cold winds crossing from west to east Japan, producing, significant snowfall in the Japanese Sea of
Japan coast. As winds collide with the center mountain ranges, high altitudes eventually precipitate moisture from
these winds and snow as it passes through the Pacific coast arrive without carrying significant amounts of
moisture, so they are not the factor major snowfall in the Pacific coast. Also this causes on this coast, the winter
weather is dry and cloudless days, unlike the winter on the west coast.
Two ocean currents affect climate model: the warm Kuroshio and cold Oyashio. The Kuroshio Current flows

across the Pacific from Taiwan and Japan passes well north of Tokyo, is a stream that takes a lot of heat to the
East Coast.
