WehavestartedtheoperationofReadyMixConcretebatchingplantby1stApril2009,whichissituatedin
industrial area street no 38. The production capacity of our plant is 90cum/hr, which is fully
computerizedstateofartRMCplant.
The plant is having a support of 16 Transit Mixers with capacity of 10cum each and two mobile boom
placerpumps,theconcreteplantisbackedupbya75Ticeandchillingplantwithalatesttechnology,whichhas
come from Germany to make a better concrete, just to make sure that we deliver the concrete up to the
internationalstandard.
AsaGroupwearemorallyresponsibletowardsthesocialbindingsandkeepingthesameontoppriority
wehavemadeaplanthroughwhichwearegoingtomakeourRMC&AsphaltPlantasoneofthebest

Inordertoensurethatthequalityofmaterialsandmixproportionsaremaintainedthroughoutasphaltproduction,
samplingandtestingshallbecarriedoutinaccordancetotherelevantspecificationswitharoutinetestingprogram.

5.2ReadymixConcrete
QA/QCPLAN
1. Sourcingofrawmaterials
1.1.Cement:Relevantchemicalandphysicalpropertiesofcementsofdifferenttypesareanalyzedfortheireffect

onstrength developmentandslumpretention.Basedon thisanalysis,some modification doneinmixes.At


presenttheapprovedcementsareasfollows.

1.2.Coarse Aggregates: Aggregates samples from proposed suppliers and source are tested for specific gravity,

absorption,sieveanalysisfrominhousetestinglaboratoryandchemicalreactivityfromthirdpartyapproved
laboratory.

Fine Aggregates: Wash sand samples from QSTP have been tested for physical properties like water
absorption, specific gravity, sieve analysis moisture content etc and chemical properties tested from third
partyapprovedlaboratory.
1.3.Water:ThewatersamplesfromvarioussourceslocationsaretestedatexternallaboratoriesasperBS3148

andQCS2007Section5andanalyzedforsuitabilityforuseinconcrete.

1.4.Admixture: Slump retaining type water reducing admixtures based on lignosulphonates or naphthalene

formaldehydearegenerallyused.Asacompanypolicy,alimitednumberoftechnicallycompetentandproven
vendors are used for sourcing admixtures. Individual products are tested for their performance in concrete
mix for various cementadmixture combinations proposed to be used. The parameters studied are slump
retention,settingtimeandstrengthdevelopmentcharacteristicsfordifferentdosages.

1.5.Microsilica: Relevant chemical and physical properties of cements of different types are analyzed for their

effectonstrengthdevelopmentandslumpretention.Basedonthisanalysis,somemodificationdoneinmixes.
AtpresenttheapprovedmicrosilicasourceElkemGrade920.

2. ProposedMixProportions

Refertotheproposedmixdesignsforvariousgradesofconcrete.Thisdesigninvolvestheuseofgoodquality
rawmaterials.
Also, keeping in view the workability requirements for pump ability and the tolerances specified in BS EN
123502.However,dependinguponclientsspecificrequirementstheslumpcanbemodifiedwhileretaining
similarvaluesfortolerances.Incaseofreductioninslumpwhiletransitduetoheavytrafficetc.,workability
shall be maintained by dosing additional plasticiser with a limitation of maximum total dosage of 2.0% by
weightofcement.

3. ForwardControl

Testingofincomingmaterialsisconductedontrucktotruckbasisandrecordedforreference.Theprimaryaimof
thesetestsistoascertainthevarianceofthelotwithrespecttooriginalsample.Ifvariationsarebeyondlimits
permitted, the material is rejected. These limits are subject to inhouse revisions from time to time. Following
observationsaremadeinthisreference.
3.1.Cement: Weighment of bulk delivery vehicles, Visual observation on presence of hardened lumps, place of
manufacture,manufacturerstestreport.

3.2.Coarse Aggregates: CA II Material retaining 20mm, material passing 2.36mm, Shape, cleanliness & weak

stonesbyvisualobservation.CAIMaterialretaining10mm,materialpassing1.18mm,Shape,cleanliness&
weakstonesbyvisualobservation.

3.3.FineAggregate:Moisturecontent,Claylumps&sourceidentificationetc.

3.4.Admixture: Specific Gravity, pH & relative performance in concrete visavis sample, manufacturers test

report.

3.5.Microsilica:Weighmentofbulkdeliveryvehicles,Visualobservationonpresenceofhardenedlumps,placeof

manufacture,manufacturerstestreport.

4. Randomsamplingandtesting

Periodic
conformancetestsareconductedinhouseandexternallyasthecasemaybe,toascertainthesuitabilityofraw
materialsasperrelevantstandards.ThedetailsoftestsandtheirfrequenciesarementionedinappendixA.

5. Qualitycontrolmeasuresatplant
5.1.Moisturecontentofsandismeasureddailyformakingdesiredcorrections.Moreover,thebatchingplanthas
aninbuiltmoistureprobethatassessesthesurfacemoistureandthecorrectionsareautomaticallymadein
thebatch.
5.2.Slump&freshdensityofconcretearetestedonrandombasisdailyatintermittentintervals.
5.3.Materialsarestoredinwelldesignedseparateenclosureslikeseparatesilosforcements&microsilica,bins
foraggregates.
5.4.Coarseaggregatesareprocuredintwosinglesizesi.e.20mm&10mmtoenablebettercontrolongrading.
5.5.All ingredients including water and admixture are weighbatched electronically to maintain high accuracy
levels.
5.6.A wellequipped Central laboratory facility is provided at near to the plant to conduct research &
developmentandgeneraltestingingreaterdetail.

6. Samplingandtestingofconcrete
6.1.SamplingisdoneAsperBSEN12350.Allthesamplescastedcompulsorilyconsistof2cubestobetestedat
28dayseach,while3cubestobetestedat7daysforearlystrengthpredictions.
6.2.Sampling is done at plant for all the structural concrete pours above 10 Cubic meters, as per standard
samplingprocedures.
6.3.Asandwhenthecompressivestrengthresultsof30samplesforagivenmixareavailable,statisticalanalysis
ofresultsisperformedtostudydegreeofvariationandcompliancetostandards.
