My electronic portfolio sums up what I have done over the course of the semester in

Composition and Communication 1 class. This portfolio can tell that as a student what Ive chose
to explore in the culture and that I have some interest in the culture that I chose. The portfolio
always says that as a communicator I am trying to give information about the culture and spread
the knowledge of the culture that I studied.
As I was exploring another culture, I learned how to start my research doing interviews and have
actual reference from a person. Not only I learned how to conduct interview but also learned how
to reference and cite using APA format that I never knew such as a proper format existed. Along
with interviews, I had to do a research online and finding a right source for my culture was really
tough but because it was hard I am now able to distinguish what kinds of websites and articles
are reliable to use and reference from. Ive found many useless websites and articles that I went
over not knowing whether I would use it or not which took a lot of time but it paid off as I
trained myself how to eliminate these useless information. I also learned how to write in a
research format and as well as how to ties different ideas together so the whole idea in general
flows. There were more than just my opinions to the exploring essay.
It also took me quite a bit of time trying to find what popular artifact is possibly related to my
culture. By listening and watching the show gave me a different perspective in viewing drama
other popular artifacts. Whenever I watch a movie or drama I dont really think about its
background. I just watch and follow the storyline but as I was doing popular artifact I had to look
at the background of the content first even before going further into the artifact. In addition, I
realized that whatever their background is it is inevitable to imply the stereotypes of its
background. It is going to mention or in any way it will give audience some sense of its
stereotype. Ive seen it as I was doing my research and most of the stereotype comes from these
social media so I had to find articles to refute the stereotype ideas from the TV show.

The content of this course have impacted me in socially, academically and professionally as how
to approach to different communications. Conductions interview aided me how to start
conversation and get to know the interviewee which improved my social skills. Dynamic reading
such as a plain personal viewpoint from hundred page research paper improved my reading skill
and helped me comprehend the information that may be useful for the research topic and it will
surely come in handy for the future as well. As I finish off this course after finishing all the hard
work, I now have the experience of writing a research type paper and this experience have
developed me in a way that I can handle even harder assignment. That I can go on to higher level
of writing a research paper that I would never thought of doing it myself. This course was not
easy for me and because it was challenging I think that I was able to improve the skills that I
could not have in any other way.
