Give Artists Creating Together a Hand: Volunteer!

ACT is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. To make our programs possible,
we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of ALL artists.
Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for this Summer. Thank you for giving ACT a hand!

Adult Art Classes ACT offers a number of opportunities just

Open Studio Nights at ACT: Students will come to


ACT for an evening of art-making! They will have a
plethora of art materials to choose from and we are
looking for volunteers to help in the creative process.
Youth Open Studio at ACT: For students age 515. Thursday, June 18 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Adult Open Studio Night: For students age 16+.
Thursday, August 6 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
**Festival Day at Pine Grove!
Come for a day of fun and art at Pine Grove School
8:30am-2:30pm, Thursday. July 23. With over 100
kids, teachers, artists, and volunteers, we would love
to have your help! The theme of the day will be the 5
senses of art and we are looking for volunteers in all
of the different art areas.
**Family Fun Night at Frederik Meijer Gardens
Frederik Meijer Gardens opens their Childrens park
for a very special night of fun for families with kids
with special needs. Come help out in different activity
areas, with face painting, and by showing kids where
things are. Wednesday, August 12 from 5:15-7:30pm.

with one that fits your interest!
ACTion Drummers 1 & 2: Each Monday from 5:15-6:15
and from 6:30-7:30 pm this performing drum troupe
rehearses at ACT. Sign up to help out with this wonderful
group of musicians for their rehearsals and community
performances (June 8-August 10).
**Tuesday Non-Visual Art Classes: Tuesday from 5:15-6:15
pm ACT students will participate in a 14 week Art of Gardening class (June 9-Sept 8) at Creston Comm. Garden.
**Tuesday Visual Art Classes: Tuesdays from 6:45-7:30pm at
the Community Media Center, students will participate in a
10 week Stop Motion Film class (June 9-August 11).
**Dance Fitness Class: On Thursdays from 11:00-12:00
noon, students will learn the art of Creative Movement at
the Grand Rapids Ballet (June 11-August 13).

Summer Camps This summer, ACT will offer 3 weeks of


summer camps, focusing on 3 different art forms: Drumming &
Recording, Visual Arts, and Theatre. During each week of
camp, 7-10 years olds will meet from 9:30-12:00 noon and
11-15 year olds will meet from 1:00-3:30pm. Help out with one
age group each day of a camp, all day for a day, or any other
configuration of time!
Drumming & Recording: Students will play and learn about
different kinds of drums, create music with a group, and record
a song of their own! Monday, June 15-Thursday, June 18.
Learning from the Masters: Students will learn about a variety of
art masters and create their own masterpieces. Monday, July 13
-Thursday, July 16.
Theatre: Students will learn all the different parts of theatre
costumes, set design, props and more! Monday, August 3
