(You may want to add Nahw Mir and Kitab al Awaamil and Sharh Miata Amil here as well, but I have not
heard it used much outside of the Indian Subcontinent during the present day)
NAHW reference texts (rather than teaching/study texts)
1) al Kitab (of Sibaway)
2) al Mufassal of Zamakhshari
(some would list al Kafiyah as a reference text as well)
SARF
1) al Bina al Afal

3) Lamiyat al Af'al
4) Tasrif i Zanjani (Izz al Din Zanjani, i.e. "al-Izzi")

BALAGHAH
1) Mukhtasar al Ma'ani (and its commentaryTalkhis ul Miftah)
2) Jawahir al Balaghah
3) Miftah ul Ulum
4) Uqood ul Jumaan (Suyuti)
5) Jawhar Al Maknun (al Akhdari)
The above is just based off what I've been able to glean from comparing the cirriculums,
recommendations, etc. of scholars, darul ulooms, etc. from times past as well as the present and
identifying which of these texts has widespread popularity and/or has withstood the test of time.
I hope that this helps as starting point.

For students of Arabic who enjoy the subtle differences between apparent synonyms, Imam
Thaalabis Fiqh al-Lughah and Asrar al-Arabiyyah are must-reads. You can download the
book, both published together by Al-Maktabah al-Asriyyah and edited by Yasin al-Ayyubi,

Treasures of Arabic Morphology (Min

Kunuz al-Sarf) by Shaykh
Ebrahim Muhammad
Attached is the now widely-used English book of Arabic morphology, compiled by Shaykh
Ebrahim Muhammad of Camperdown, South Africa. It is used as the main text for Sarf in
many madrasahs today. The book has been published by ZamZam Publishers in Karachi,
albeit with poor printing. The margins are missing and the pages/binding are small and of
poor quality. Students tend to prefer to print out the pdf and bind the book themselves. This
gives them large margins to write notes on and allows for easier reading because of the larger
pages.
The students at the Institute of Islamic Education, however, were given permission by the
author to print these copies instead of buying the published book. I suggest that anyone who
wishes to do the same obtain permission from the author.
