Course Information
Content: This course focuses on current and future personal communications systems. Topics
covered in this course include the cellular concept, radio access technologies (FDMA, TDMA, CDMA
etc…), mobility management and network security. Emphasis will be put on understanding issues,
technologies and protocols used in 2G (second generation) and 3G (third generation, IP‐based)
wireless communications networks. Planning, design and operation aspects of wireless
communications networks will also be covered. New trends in personal communications systems will
also be discussed.
Prerequisite: CS5390, CS5343
