CHAPTER IV.

METHODOLOGY
1. GATHERING OF DATA
It is the compilation of the primary and secondary data in order to supply the
necessary data and information about the sector. Primary data and information
(government data and records) gathered through interviews at government agencies
respective personnel, such as Philippine development plan (PDP). Instrument or
tools are used to gather data, such as:
Internet - being open to the elements of social media and internet/cyber world is the
most flexible tools in data or information gathering. It provides necessary information
about historical facts and even present issues for the research. There are several
websites which offer important facts and figures. It also helps us to conserve more
time and efficient rather than just going to different departments for actual research.
Interviews - this is a direct interaction with the people behind the sector of our study.
Through this we have obtained the information at first hand regarding several
concerns of our study. It is the most reliable source information in terms of what is
really in need to the subject area. The scopes of these interviews are the locals
within the target region; also the government officials belong and related to the
proposal.
Newspaper/articles - reading articles such as newspapers and magazines provide
information daily current event that could also give existing situation about the
problems.

2. ANALYSIS OF GATHERED DATA

To address the problem data are gathered and analyze. Similar data are also
groups to where it belongs. Datas are analyzed by the used reading the charts and
graphs gathered then it review to finalized acquire only necessary information.

3. PREPARATION OF ANALYTICAL TOOLS

Evaluating the data or the quantitative analysis summarized the essential
information, such as the main problem, brief description and possible solution in it.
Through preparation, irrelevant data are removed to let the summary more
understandable and easily absorbed by the reader.

4. ACTIVITY STUDY OF SECTOR/SUBSECTOR

The scope of the study about the sector subject contains the site visit,
interviews and surveys.
Site visit are done by taken up a picture about the site such as the condition to
formulate and project solution about the existing problem. These include having the
photo of a current situation of the sector in terms of:

Land Area- as a first class province having a total land area of 305,345
hectares. It constitutes 16.75 percent of the total land area of Region III and
1.0percent of the total land area of the country.

Location- Tarlac borders Pampanga to the south, Nueva Ecija to the east,
Pangasinan to the north, and Zambales to the west. It is a part of Central
Luzon Region, which is also composed of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva
Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales.

Land Utilization- The selected site is in its proper zoning. It classifies as an

agricultural site base on its land use map.

Environmental Condition- Issues are raised as causes of agricultural

underdevelopment of Central Luzon include: (1) poor management of water
resources; (2) poor access to technologies; (3) high transport costs; (4) supply
inadequacies of certified and good seeds; and, (5) unexplored alternative
products and opportunities.

Transportation- Easy access from the north to south.

Infrastructure/Utilities- The lowlands in the central area of Tarlac had been

the catch basin of the runoff from western mountainous regions, which are
drained by the major rivers of Tarlac, such as the Tarlac River, necessitating
flood control infrastructure to protect farmland, properties, and lives. The
development of infrastructure, although not considered as deficient, has
largely been reactive to the emerging actual needs of the province.
Tarelco or Tarlac Electric Cooperative serves as the source of power.

Surveys and interviews are done by the used of questionnaire for the sector
and subject area. The survey and interview are used to compare if the data is related
about the survey done by government in the area or in the socio-economic profile it
also give opportunity for individual to give their opinion about the situation in their
area or if they satisfy by the current situation.

5. DATA PROCESSING USING PLANNING PARAMETERS

Data processing functions have been performed manually to determine the
required, present, and projected needs of the sector using the planning parameters
formula.

6. OUTPUT OF THE STUDY

The essence of Integrated Agricultural Research Center for Crops
Development and Agro-Ecopark in Central Luzon is for the farmers and researches
to have more advanced knowledge and trained skills for the better growth of
production of crops and for the progress of the agriculture sector.
Proposed Integrated Agricultural Research Center for Crops Development
and Agro-Ecopark in Central Luzon will rely with the theme: Disaster Risk Reduction
is Essential to Sustainable Economic Growth; Ensuring Resiliency by Integrating
Science and Technology in the Design of the Community
