This weekly e-mail highlights interesting internship opportunities and other important information that will
aid you in securing an internship! The internships listed below are just a sampling of what is available. For

SPRING 2010 EVENTS! SAVE THE DATE!


Coming this Spring! Career Fest 2010, February 1-5, a week of events for USC students centered on
topics related to work, career and the economy engaging the entire university community. The
Career Fair will be held February 11. On-Campus Recruiting begins February 8. Internship Week
will be held February 22-25. The spring Diversity Networking Mixer will be held on February 16.

CAREER CENTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS


The Career Planning & Placement Center is offering two great summer internship programs for 2010,
Dream Dollars and The Scheyer Family Scholarship.

The Dream Dollars Program is a unique “scholarship” program for undergraduates. The USC Dream
Dollars Program provides stipends for USC students who receive internships with a non-profit or
government organization. This program will support students hoping to gain work experience from an
unpaid internship. Students will be selected through an application and interview process. All internships
must be a minimum of six weeks during the summer. The program provides a stipend of $1,200 for each
student. For more information please stop by the Internship Programs Office in STU B-1or attend one of
our Dream Dollars Information Sessions on either February 9th or 16th, 12-12:30pm or March 2nd, 1-
1:30pm in STU B-3.

The Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns, established in December of 2007, will provide an
award of $2,500.00 to two students enrolled in approved summer internships. Preference will be given to
sophomores, juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Student recipients must have a major in
the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students
must be in good academic standing and must have a graduation date between December 2010 and May
2013. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship. For more information please

February 17th in STU B-6 or March 23rd, 12-12:30pm in STU B-3.

NEED COURSE CREDIT FOR AN UNPAID INTERNSHIP?


Federal labor law requires that students participating in an internship must either A) be paid by the
employer; or, B) be enrolled in an internship for-credit course. Do you have an unpaid internship and
need course credit? If so, register for one of USC’s 10+ internship courses. For a full list of internship

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 BANDAI – Summer Internship Program (Tokyo, Japan)
As one of the world's leading toy companies, Bandai is constantly searching for new ways to
conceptualize, develop, and market products. Having been an innovator in the field for over fifty

evolutionary step for Bandai will be on a global scale, as we make serious efforts to expand our

 NAMCO BANDAI Games – Internship (Tokyo, Japan)


NAMCO BANDAI Games is proud to announce the initiation of a summer internship program. This
internship program will give highly motivated individuals a chance to work at one of the biggest
game developers in Japan. NAMCO BANDAI Games focuses primarily on the creation of video
games and other forms of electronic entertainment. There are several different internship positions
available from Game Producer, Product Marketing, Sound Creator and more. Each position has its

 Lucas Films – Jedi Academy/Internships


We're looking for a few good Padawans! The Lucasfilm companies are looking for great creative
talent to join our award winning teams. The Jedi Academy Program is a summer internship program
that Lucasfilm runs between 12-16 weeks at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco,
California and at Big Rock Ranch in Nicasio, California. We are looking for junior undergraduate,
Masters and Ph.D. students to work across our divisions. Internship positions include game
programming and engineering, game art, R&D engineering, software engineering, information
technology, web development, marketing, licensing, and production. All internship positions are paid.

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 City of Los Angeles – Mayoral Internship
The Mayoral Internship Program provides a unique opportunity of experiential learning for some of
this country's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students. Those selected to participate
will be assigned to a team—headed by a Senior Advisor or Deputy Mayor—and will work closely
and, at times, in concert with all levels of government, in addition to City commissions and
departments, on a breadth of issues related to the team's focus area. Placement assignments are made
based on a combination of factors, including the needs of the Mayor's Office and the Mayoral Intern's
skill set and expressed interest in a specific area. Mayoral interns will perform a variety of tasks,
which may involve policy research and development, drafting memoranda and briefs, community
engagement, outreach and education, and legal research and analysis. The ideal candidate will have
strong written and oral communication skills, a record of academic achievement, a demonstrated
commitment to public service, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will also
have great interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of maintaining a high level of
ethics and integrity in the work environment. All applicants must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 to be

 MGM Studios – Digital Media Internship


Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios is searching for qualified interns in our Digital Media department for
the spring 2010 term. Candidates should have computer proficiency, an interest in digital media, and
an enthusiasm for their work. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience
while working alongside industry professionals. We are looking for motivated and creative
individuals with an interest in the entertainment industry and digital media. This internship is not
limited to any specific majors. Candidates MUST be able to receive credit during the term that they
intern with the company (this position is UNPAID). The schedule is flexible but the department
would like to find an individual that can work between 15-25 hours per week. Please e-mail cover

 Amy Levy PR – Internships (3 Openings)


Amy Levy PR is a full service Los Angeles public relations firm reaching out a broad, diverse and
creative clientele. The firm's services include: arts marketing, media outreach, strategic planning,
advertising, business image enhancement, community awareness campaigns, web site promotion,
corporate identity programs and special events management. The internship entails writing press
releases, bios and other materials, pitching the media for a variety of product categories, speaking
with clients to set interviews and update them on our activities, updating media lists in Excel, doing
newsletters in Microsoft Publisher, doing research on the internet, helping us on new business
pitches, clipping client's articles, etc. This is not a filing/copying job. Junior and Senior level
students only please. Those who have declared a major in public relations or marketing are desired.
Students who would like to pursue a career in these areas and have already either taken some classes
in these areas or had a previous internship in these areas only. Please do not apply if you have never
taken a class or had relevant internship experience already. 2-3 days per week, school credit only.

 Alchemy Entertainment – Intern


Internship at Alchemy Entertainment. We produced the Warner Bros./New Line feature 17 AGAIN.
We are also currently in development on several other features. Our management/production
company is looking for interns to help out around the office. Responsibilities include but not limited
to occasional movie/TV set visits, assisting the Development Executive, reading scripts and writing
coverage, answering phones and daily office tasks. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or
university. Proficient in using a computer. Highly motivated, independent and organized. I am

FELLOWSHIPS
City of Chicago, Mayor’s Office Fellowship Program
The Office of the Mayor of the City of Chicago is in the process of recruiting graduate students for the
2010 Mayor’s Office Summer Fellowship Program. The Mayor's Office Fellowship Program is a
wonderful opportunity for graduate students in any concentration who will be enrolled during the summer
and are interested in local government and public policy. Fellows have the opportunity to learn about
municipal government and participate in a unique, hands-on experience in the development of new policy
and program initiatives. Participants research policies and evaluate their potential benefit to Chicago,
draft memoranda for Mayor’s Office senior staff on upcoming issues and new initiatives, and participate
in a variety of talks and tours that provide insight into how City government operates. Candidates are
selected on a nationwide basis from public and private colleges and universities. Candidates must be
current students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a minimum cumulative GPA of
4.0 on a 5.0 scale. Fellows are not classified as full-time employees. Residency in the City of Chicago is
required prior to starting the fellowship program. Relocation is at the applicant’s expense. Fellows are
paid at a rate of $20 per hour. International students must have an F-1 Student Visa and must be a full-
time student. International students are required to have a social security number/card which states
“VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION.” Completed applications for
participation in the summer session (June 14, 2010 through August 27, 2010) must be postmarked no later
than FEBRUARY 19, 2010. Candidates must submit an application, which requires two writing samples
and two letters of recommendation, as well as a resume, official transcript and letter of enrollment. To

for eligibility and qualifications. Applicants will be selected for interviews and based upon the results of
the interview process, a final selection of fellows will be made.

Piedmont Environmental Council Fellowship Program


The PEC Fellowship program is much more than an internship! The seven week program is designed to
provide college students and recent graduates with comprehensive exposure to PEC's work in the
Piedmont region and Virginia. Fellows will experience a hands-on approach to learning about PEC
through field-trips, classroom discussions, and individual practicum projects. Wherever possible,
classroom lessons are followed with practical applications and field trips. During the 2009 program,
morning lectures on land conservation and farmland preservation were followed by field trips to three
farms to hear directly from land owners and work side-by-side with farmers. PEC is pleased to provide
accepted 2010 Fellows assistance with local housing, classroom facilities, activities and special project

Securities and Exchange Commission 2010 Summer Business Honors Program
