PURPOSE:
The purpose of this document is to detail the steps required to setup business objects from SAP.
Introduction:
Business object technology and business object programming are based on the concept of "business
objects". Real world objects, for example an employee or a sales order, are modeled as business
objects in business application systems, such as the R/3 System.
SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence platform is a flexible, scalable, and reliable solution for
Delivering powerful, interactive reports to end users via any web applicationintranet, extranet,
Internet, or corporate portal. Whether it is used for distributing weekly sales reports, providing
customers with personalized service offerings, or integrating critical information into corporate
portals, SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence platform delivers tangible benefits that
extend across and beyond the organization. As an integrated suite for reporting, analysis, and
information delivery, the BI platform provides a solution for increasing end-user productivity and
reducing administrative efforts.
This section provides a general description of the BI platform architecture and key components,
and provides resources for further information. It also provides a general roadmap for installing
and configuring the BI platform.
Prerequisites:

Operating System with required hardware configuration.


Sap Business object4.0 sp4 (fp3) installation Media.
Microsoft .Net frame work 3.5 or higher to be installed in BO server if requires.
Administrator Privilege for the installation User account.
Suppressed reboot required before starting installation.

The step by step process:
Oracle Installation:
Run the oracle client setup.
Select Administrator which will only give management console & tools.

Software Updates.

Select language

No need to select the path, it will automatically detect the path were BO need to be install
(in our case E Drive)

Click -> Next

Click-> Install.

Create user id in DB and grant permission to the user in Database level through CMD prompt

Enter the Service name and click-> Next.

Click -> Next

Run the setup.exe from Business objects 4.0 Installer disc / Folder.

If the installer gives error then run setup with Administrator Privileges
Note: Installer initialization may take some time so be patient.

Note: Without fulfilling critical pre-requisites the installation cannot continue.

Give the name and organization (not mandatory), give the product key code and

Select your installation type and click -> Next
Note: If you want to do customization, please consult installation manual.

Give path of installation and click -> Next

Select the database type and click Next.

Click 'Install Tomcat server and automatically deploy.....' and click -> Next.

Click 'Install and use Subversion' & click -> Next

Give the password for Administrator Account and CMS Cluster Key, both are mandatory &
then click -> Next.

Give the password for ' boqadm ' user account of oracle Server and credentials for SAP BO
User account and click -> Next.

Give the password for the Repository user of LCM, for better understanding keep common
password for all required and click -> Next.

Click -> ' Do not configure connectivity to SMD Agent ' and click -> Next
Note: Please consult installation guide and Administration/Configuration Guide to
set connectivity to Solution Manager.

Click 'Do not integrate connectivity to Introscope Enterprise Manager ' and click -> Next.

Click -> Next, and now be patient - installation will take some time depending upon your
hardware and software configuration.

Click -> Finish.


POST-INSTALLATION STEP:
Post installation steps are mandatory if we need to connect the BO with BI system.
Create T-type RFC between BO and BI in BI source system targeting BO system.

Create a user account for SSO in SAP BI client with SAP_ALL access.

Login to OS level in BO server & open CCM console.

Right click on BW publisher serviceproperties; enter the program id (rfc name), Gateway
host & Gateway service.

Login to the BOE cmc using below URL with administrator credentials.
HTTP://<hostname>:8080/BOE/CMC
HTTP://<hostname>:8080/BOE/BI

If authentication tab need to enable in BI launch Pad means, follow the below step.

APPTomcate6WebappsBOEWeb-infConfigStandardBilaunchpad.properties
Change the required authentication and restart all the services in CCM in order to take
effect.
Restart the server and ready to access new BO system.
