03.01. Introduction to Deposit Account:

Deposit Accounts opened and maintained by our customers are liability products of
the Bank. Broadly these products are classified as Demand Liability and Time or
Term Liability products. Demand Liability products are payable on customer
demand. Examples of such products are Savings Bank, Current Account. In such
products Bank stipulates certain conditions like minimum balance, number of
withdrawals during a specified period and recovers charges for services rendered
over and above minimum stipulated conditions or violation of conditions. For Time
Deposits we have fixed Product Features including specific term. These conditions
are relative Business Rules or Bank Instructions on specific products and are
circulated by the Bank as e-Circulars. Users / Tellers have to know these rules to
be able to open any specific Deposit Account for the customer.
In CBS the Product Features (above mentioned Product specific Banks business
rules) are built into the system at the time of Product Development. These
Product Specific Rules are handled by CBS through two important 4-digit
parameters called (i) Account Type and (ii) Interest Category or Sub Type.
These parameters are fed to the System in the Account Opening Menu in the
following manner:
Account Type

Interest Category/
Sub Type
N

These parameters viz Account Type and Interest Category / Subtype are
available in CBS Service Desk which can be accessed by typing Codes in the box
provided at -Search Knowledge Base for a Solution - Provide keywords for
searching: and then going to the required link like Deposit Product codes.
Presently the Product Codes available in the Service Desk are given in the
Annexure.
We elucidate below the steps in CBS to familiarize the users with the Account
opening process:

CIF is not readily available). After entering the CIF No. (Return CIF No., if
Search is used), click on the Transmit button.

2.

SCR002000 is displayed. This is the first of the five tabbed (associated)

screens used for creating all types of deposit accounts. Not all the screens
need be filled for every account.

3.

All aquamarine fields are mandatory and should be filled in. In Core Banking,
the Account Type (comprising of Product 2 digit & Type 2 digit) defines the
product. A dropdown box is provided in each of these fields.

accounts and so is optional in such cases. However, this is mandatory in case
of accounts transferred to core from non-core branches.

generated is displayed at the bottom of the screen. This may look something
like:

Amend Deposit Tabbed Screen

effectively the same tabbed screen on which the account was created, only
difference being that since this is an amendment screen, the relative values fed in
earlier are now displayed. Any of the fields in any of the five-tabbed screens can
be amended. This is useful if a large number of amendments have to be done.
The transaction will be submitted to checker for authorisation and the checker has
to authorise the transaction.
