It is a matter of great pride and proud priviledge to welcome you all to the Third day of the
Independence Week 2014, being held in the felicitous and splendour of the sprawling campus of
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. On the occasion of the 68th Independence Day of India,
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is proudly celebrating the Independence week in the
University Campus from 14th August to 22nd August 2014. So far we have witnessed some
outstanding events like Tree Plantation, Film screenings, a street play on democracy, flag hoisting,
campus cleanliness drive and much more. This eventful day marks the beginning of a 3 day cultural
extravaganza that will include some extraordinary spic macay performances that are sure to leave
you awstruck.
The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth also known
as SPIC MACAY is a voluntary movement founded in 1977 by Dr Kiran Seth, a Professor at IITDelhi who was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to the arts in 2009.It seeks to inspire
youth through experiencing the mysticism embodied in the rich and heterogeneous cultural
tapestry of Indian and World Heritage, with a hope that the beauty, grace, values and wisdom
embodied in these arts will influence their way of life and thinking and inspire one to become a
better human being.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this magnificent auditorium, resplendent in all its glory with the fragrance of
fresh flowers is now set to welcome our guest of honour and the other eminent dignitaries on the
