you can in a simulated examination hall environment.

Dont go for last minute preparation as it only leads to confusion.
During the examination
Dos
Read, through the entire question paper first. This gives you an overall feel of the paper.

It is required to answer five full questions out of total eight questions.

Allot time for answering the questions proportionate to the marks assigned and try to
stick to the time that you allot for these questions.
For example,
Question 1
(a) With the necessary steps, explain the production of E-beam masks.
04 Marks
(b) Derive the expression for Vin (switch point voltage) in the region C of a CMOS inverter.
06 Marks

(c) Describe with neat diagrams, the P well fabrication process.

06 Marks

(d) Define: VOH, VOL, VIH and VIL with respect to noise margin

04 Marks

The duration of VTU theory examination for each subject is 3 hours = 180 minutes
To answer each questions the time required is 180/5 = 36 minutes
To answer for one marks, it needs 36 minutes/20 marks = 1.8 minutes
Now to answer the questions
1(a), time required is: 4 marks x 1.8 minute = 7.2 minutes
1(b), time required is: 6 marks x 1.8 minute = 10.8 minutes
1(c), time required is: 6 marks x 1.8 minute = 10.8 minutes
1(d), time required is: 4 marks x 1.8 minute = 7.2 minutes
Thus, total time taken to answer question 1 is 7.2 + 10.8 + 10.8 + 7.2 = 36 minutes, which is
same as before calculated.
Keep an eye on your watch so that you dont spend more time than planned on any
question.
Write your answers legibly with the question number written in the left margin.
First, answer the questions that you are confident enough and set the priority in
answering the questions.
In case of numerical problems, remember to highlight your answers and write down all
the steps involved clearly. Be sure to include the units while giving the final answer.
Write down the equations, formulas and figures with all relevant details.
While answering, draw appropriate diagrams or construct table, wherever required.
Leave enough space in between your answers for each question, preferably by drawing a
line with a pen or pencil.
After answering the questions that you are confident, try answering the questions that you
are not confident. If your answer is correct, you stand to gain; if your answer is wrong,
you dont lose anything except the marks.
It is very important that while answering the questions, make sure that you write the
relevant question number correctly on the answer sheet.

 Double-check your answers

wers after answering complete question paper (i.e five full
questions).

Dont
Dont leave any question unanswered out of five questions to answer.
If the above listed suggestions are followed, you can be sure of scoring very high marks in VTU
examinations and enviable rank in the exams.
