For A354 - 4 Throw Compressor:

Treat as two 2 throw compressors. Unit A consists of cranks
1 & 2 with equal weights and unit B consists of cranks 3 & 4
with equal weights.
1. Primary Vertical Couple equals 1.414 times the chart value
for unit A or unit B (PV is not dependent on cylinder size).
2. Secondary Vertical Couple equals 0 as in 2 throw case.
3. Primary Horizontal Couple equals 0.707 times the 2 throw
chart value (A352 chart to left) for unit A plus 0.707 times the
chart value (A352 chart to left) for unit B.
4. Secondary Horizontal Couple equals the 2 throw chart value
(A352 chart to left) for unit A minus the 2 throw chart value
(A352 chart to left) for unit B.
Example: A354, 1800 RPM
Cranks 1 & 2 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Cranks 3 & 4 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Primary Vertical Couple = 1.414 x 0.98 = 1.38 Kip*ft
Secondary Vertical Couple = 0 Kip*ft
Primary Horizontal Couple = (0.707 x 3.02) + (0.707 x 3.02) = 4.27 Kip*ft
Secondary Horizontal Couple = 0.78 - 0.78 = 0 Kip*ft

Notes:
1. Horizontal primary and secondary forces are zero.
2. Vertical primary and secondary forces are zero.
3. Select cylinder bore with largest unbalance couple. Opposing bore is balanced.
4. For lower speeds, multiply unbalance couple by the square of
the ratio of the desired speed to the rated speed.
5. For any questions contact the GE Gemini Engineering Department @ 1-800-297-4320.

3. Primary Horizontal Couple equals 0.707 times the 2 throw
chart value (E502 chart to left) for unit A plus 0.707 times the
chart value (E502 chart to left) for unit B.
4. Secondary Horizontal Couple equals the 2 throw chart value
(E502 chart to left) for unit A minus the 2 throw chart value
(E502 chart to left) for unit B.
Example: E504, 1200 RPM
Cranks 1 & 2 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Cranks 3 & 4 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Primary Vertical Couple = 1.414 x 6.10 = 8.63 Kip*ft
Secondary Vertical Couple = 0 Kip*ft
Primary Horizontal Couple = (0.707 x 24.21) + (0.707 x 24.21) = 34.23 Kip*ft
Secondary Horizontal Couple = 3.93 - 3.93 = 0 Kip*ft

Notes:
5. For E/F 6 throw configuration or any other questions contact the GE Gemini Engineering Department @ 1-800-297-4320.

For F704 - 4 Throw Compressor:

Treat as two 2 throw compressors. Unit A consists of cranks
1 & 2 with equal weights and unit B consists of cranks 3 & 4
with equal weights.
1. Primary Vertical Couple equals 1.414 times the chart value
for unit A or unit B (PV is not dependent on cylinder size).
2. Secondary Vertical Couple equals 0 as in 2 throw case.
3. Primary Horizontal Couple equals 0.707 times the 2 throw
chart value (F702 chart to left) for unit A plus 0.707 times the
chart value (F702 chart to left) for unit B.
4. Secondary Horizontal Couple equals the 2 throw chart value
(F702 chart to left) for unit A minus the 2 throw chart value
(F702 chart to left) for unit B.
Example: F704, 1000 RPM
Cranks 1 & 2 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Cranks 3 & 4 = 9.00 & 5.00 Cylinder (choose 9.00 cylinder, 5.00 is balanced)
Primary Vertical Couple = 1.414 x 5.93 = 8.39 Kip*ft
Secondary Vertical Couple = 0 Kip*ft
Primary Horizontal Couple = (0.707 x 23.35) + (0.707 x 23.35) = 33.02 Kip*ft
Secondary Horizontal Couple = 3.39 - 3.39 = 0 Kip*ft

Notes:
