• NUMBER PROBLEMS
1. The sum of three integers is 27. The second integer is two less than twice
the first integer, and the third integer is 5 greater than three times the
first. Find the numbers.

2. The total of two integers is 43. Double the bigger integer exceeds three
times the smaller integer by sixteen. What are the integers?

• AGE PROBLEMS
1. Mr. Avila is four times as old as his son. In 16 years he will be only twice
as old. What are their ages now?

2. Five years ago Mike was twice as old as Berto. The sum of their ages six
years hence will be forty years. What are their present ages?

• MIXTURE PROBLEM
1. How many liters of 70% methyl solution should be added to 200 liters of a
20% methyl solution to obtain a 35% methyl solution?

2. How many grams of pure gold must be added to 100 gm, 50% pure, to
make a mixture, which is 75 % pure?

• INVESTMENT PROBLEMS

1. A businessman invested P16,000, part at 9% and the rest at 4%. His total
interest from both investments was P990. How much did he invest at each
rate?

2. A man invested P10,000 part of it at 4% and the rest at 5% interest. If the


total income from each of these investments amounted to P480.00, how
much was invested at each rate?

• MEASUREMENT PROBLEM
1. A rectangle is 5 meters longer than its width. If the length is shortened by
two meters and the width is increased by one meter, the area will be the
same. Find the length and the width.

2. The length of a rectangle is 13 inches greater than its width. Its perimeter is
8 ft. Find its dimensions.

• MOTION PROBLEM
1. Two buses leave at the same time from two terminals 792 kms apart and
meet in 9 hours. One bus travels 8 kph faster than the other. How far did
each bus travel?
2. A car leaves town going south at 50 mph. One hour later another car leaves
on the same road travelling at 60 mph. How far from town will the second car
overtake the first?
