1. What have you learned about logic mapping/modeling?
I had never really completed a logic map before this class. I thought it was a good way to focus on what I really wanted to accomplish with this evaluation, what my objectives were, how to make those objectives happen to achieve the goals I was hoping for. It is important that each strategy is tied to an objective as well as an objective being tied to a goal. This ensures success and does not leave anything in limbo hoping for success. 2. What have you learned about writing evaluation questions? Writing evaluation questions can be both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative questions are more discussions, verbal feedback, etc. Quantitative feedback would be numbers, percentages, etc. Evaluation questions should be very explicit and narrow. If the question is too vague, it will be hard to find an answer in order to evaluate correctly. 3. What have you learned about selecting data/measures? I learned to not make it too hard on myself when selecting data/measures. I started out thinking it would be a grand production and it turns out the simpler the survey, the more likely people will respond. However, wording has to be considered carefully. You might want to ask one big questions, but if you break it down into several questions it doesnt seem as daunting to participants and/or colleagues. 4. What have you learned about data analysis and writing up results?
Little ECI 502
When looking at the data I was surprised by some of the
results. When your reach this stage in your evaluation, you need to let the data speak for itself and not assume results. Your bias does not need to be involved whatsoever. I enjoyed writing the data analysis and then thinking about what should be implemented next year in order for this program to be more of a success in the future. The data really helped me narrow in on what some issues were, and I wouldnt have necessarily thought of them before. 5. Knowing what you know now, what might you have done differently in planning your evaluation? I would have had more time to complete my evaluation. I know with the semester limit, and the learning process, it put a restraint on my data collection period. However, I feel that with a larger window, more data could be collected to increase the validity of this evaluation. 6. Do you think the information you have learned in this course will be useful to you in the future? Why or why not? I definitely believe this information I have learned in this course will be useful in the future. The recommendations from my evaluation plan will be implemented next year in my school. Not only is it useful for me to learn how to properly evaluate a new resource, but it is also helping my school utilize the resources we have available to the highest potential. Thanks to this class, I will be able to evaluate more resources in the future to be able to analyze the benefits and possible cons of the program or resource.
