Chapter 2 Project

In groups of 4 or 5, you will write a short story in the form of a Logical Chain. Use the storyboard
template to help start the project. You will need to design a book cover for your story that includes the
title and the author. You can use colored pencils, markers, magazine clippings, computer generated
artwork, etc. Write a minimum of 8 sentences, and each needs to be written as a conditional. Your
story will also need a conclusion. Your story must also contain or be accompanied with an informal
proof (paragraph proof) and a formal proof (two-column proof). The proofs must show how you got
from the first sentence of your story to the conclusion. Your proof reasons do not have to be related to
the postulates and theorems we have studied in Geometry. For example, Statement: If you give a
mouse a cookie, then he will ask for a glass of milk. Reason: Definition of Thirsty Mouse- Eating a
cookie will make a mouse thirsty, requiring a beverage.
To get a feel for what we want to accomplish, we will look at a few examples of stories. (The Lady that
Swallowed a Fly, If you give a Mouse a Cookie, etc.) Stories are expected to be original.
Creativity/originality will be rewarded. Stories may be serious or silly in nature, although appropriate
for a child.

The informal and formal proofs are worth 5 points each. They may be incorporated in your story or
turned in separate from your story. You must turn in a story in the form of a book. Up to 5 points of
extra credit may be received for using technology, in some way, to tell your story. Examples could
include making a video of the story or creating a PowerPoint presentation with commentary.
