What is educational technology?

As an academic discipline, the study of educational technology prepares individuals by helping them acquire a deeper
understanding and mastery of:

learning resources: messages, people, materials, devices, techniques and settings;

processes for analyzing and devising solutions to those problems through research, theory, design, production,
evaluation, utilization;
the processes involved in organization and personnel management.

The focus is on effective processes to facilitate learning using technologies and understanding the impacts of technology on
learners and organizations.
Areas of specialization may include distance learning, human performance technology, technology integration and
management, media design and development, learning sciences, instructional design, change management, and
communications processes. It should be noted that the field is not merely concerned with learning technical skills nor the
simplistic use of technology for technologys sake in teaching, a common misperception by non-educators. Practitioners in
the field typically hold an advanced degree, Master's or doctorate.

Official Definitions
The Association for Educational Communications and Technology, the professional society for ET, defines it as:
Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating,
using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.
As a field, educational technology emphasizes communication skills and approaches to teaching and learning through the
judicious use and integration of diverse media. Scholars in the field examine the uses of innovative media and technologies
for education, examining all aspects from direct student learning to management and impacts on institutions. As in all forms
of applied technology, the field studies how theoretical knowledge and scientific principles can be applied to problems that
arise in a social context. Practitioners in educational technology seek new and effective ways of organizing the teaching and
learning process through the best possible application of technological developments. These activities rely upon a body of
knowledge for successful and ethical implementation, rather than routine tasks or isolated technical skills.

Research and Knowledge Base

The field provides the research base for effective utilization of new media in education and by default is interdisciplinary in
its approaches and theories. This may include human-computer interaction and cognition, social and behavioral aspects of
media in learning, or change and innovation theory among social and cultural groupings as the basis for research and study.
The knowledge base for the field has been well documented by the disciplines major professional organization,
the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). While some programs refer to the discipline as
instructional technology or instructional design, the UHM department has taken the more current terminology of
educational technology reflecting the aspects of the field that go beyond instructional development to include the wider
social and behavioral impacts of technology on education.
For a sense of the range of the field, check out the AECT web site

What is Technology Education?
Technology Education is an integrated, experienced-based instructional
program designed to prepare a population that is knowledgeable about
technology its evolution, systems, techniques, uses and social and

cultural significance. It results in the application of mathematics and

science concepts to solve practical problems and extend human
capabilities.
What are the expectations for students in Technology Education
programs?
Technology education is an essential component of a comprehensive
and experience-based science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) curriculum. It develops technological literacy
amongst students by demonstrating how mathematics and science is
applied to the process of engineering design. Technology education
programs were among the first to demonstrate an integrated approach
to STEM instruction. Interdisciplinary teams of teachers train and work
together for cross curriculum planning and integrated delivery of
instruction. Technology education is taught using a collaborative
approach in which groups of students interact with teachers of
mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, technology, and
other disciplines. Real-world challenges, laboratory activities, and
computer-assisted instruction are used to provide students with handson and authentic learning experiences.
Are students required to take Technology Education?
All students must earn one credit in Technology Education as part of
Marylands graduation requirements.
Are there content standards for Technology Education?
The content standards can be found in the Technology Education State
Curriculum. The state curriculum is aligned to the International
Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) Standards
for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology. The
State Board of Education also approved new Code of Maryland
Regulations (COMAR) that aligns to the state curriculum that became
effective in September 2007.
How does Technology Education differ from Educational
Technology
Technology Education is an instructional program required of all
students. Students work individually and in teams as they learn how to
use and interact with technology to solve problems and extend human
capabilities. Whereas, Educational Technology is the use of technology
to support student learning and instruction, and includes all the
electronic tools, both hardware and software, that assist individuals in
their ability to acquire and communicate information.
Are there any resources available to help school systems
strengthen their Technology Education programs?
1. Technology Education Voluntary State Curriculum
This document contains five overarching standards that identify what
students should know and be able to do in order to be technologically
literate. It also provides local school systems with a means for
developing challenging curriculum while increasing state supported
opportunities for professional development. For more information on

the Technology Education Standards, please

visit:http://www.mdk12.org/instruction/curriculum/index.html
2. Technology Education Facilities Guidelines
This document is designed to assist local school systems in the
planning, design, construction and occupancy of technology education
facilities. It is a translation of an educational philosophy about
technology education into a three-dimensional place in order for
students to achieve the goals set forth in the curricular framework. The
facilities guidelines identify the space and lab requirements for
technology education instruction.
3. STEM Center for Teaching and Learning
As a member of the Center's Consortium of States, MSDE makes the
Engineering ByDesign (EbD) series of professional publications
available to school systems at no cost. Each curriculum is based on
the Standards for Technological Literacy and is correlated to the state
curriculum.

Team sport
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cricket is a popular team sport played at international level

A team sport includes any sport which involves players working together towards a shared
objective.
A team sport is an activity in which a group of individuals, on the same team, work together to
accomplish an ultimate goal which is usually to win. This can be done in a number of ways such as
outscoring the opposing team. Team members set goals, make decisions, communicate, manage
conflict, and solve problems in a supportive, trusting atmosphere in order to accomplish their
objectives. This can be seen in sports such as hockey, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, water
polo, ultimate, lacrosse, American football, rowing, cricket, handball and many others.
Every team sport is different. Some team sports are practiced between opposing teams, where the
players interact directly and simultaneously between them to achieve an objective. The objective
generally involves teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar item in accordance with a
set of rules, in order to score points. This usually involves careful strategic planning, good
preparation, and a mental and physical toughness of each individual that is part of the team. Team
sports rely on all of the players working together equally in order to succeed at the task at hand.
Being part of a team sport requires that each athlete has patience and perseverance since the goals
put forth to accomplish might take some time to meet. This involves a good deal of dedication, hard
work, and good leadership over that span of time.
However, other types of team sports do not involve teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or
similar item in accordance with a set of rules, in order to score points. For
example, Swimming, Rowing, Sailing, Dragon Boat Racing, Track and Field among others are also
team sports. In other types of team sports there may not be an opposing team or point scoring, for
example, Mountaineering. Instead of points scored against an opposing team, the relative difficulty
of the climb or walk is the measure of the achievement.

hat are recreational activities?

A:
Recreational activities are actions that are performed solely for the enjoyment,
pleasure and amusement of individuals. Recreational activities are fun, mentally or
physically engaging activities that people usually plan to do during their time off from
work or school. Some examples of recreational activities include bowling, swimming,
kite flying, bird watching, surfing, dancing, playing cards and watching movies.
Recreation is a necessary part of life that refreshes and rejuvenates a person's body
and mind. Recreational activities help a person relax and decrease the effects of workrelated and interpersonal stressors. Physical recreational activities, such as playing
basketball or volleyball with friends, help to keep a person's body in shape and serve to
initiate close bonds with other like-minded individuals.
Recreational activities often boost a person's confidence due to the feelings of
accomplishment and pride he experiences when excelling at a chosen sport or another
type of leisure activity. These types of activities also allow an individual to sharpen
communication, time management, motivational and disciplinary skills that he can then
use to enhance his career or personal relationships.

Engaging in regular recreational activities can help a person discover new passions and
even a new career path that is both financially and personally

Adventure seekers around the world have been quenching their thirst for excitement through many
recreational activities. Most of these activities are physically demanding and require you to be in excellent
physical form. Regardless of how physically demanding these activities are, the active ones always find
them fulfilling and exhilarating. A sense of achievement, a sense of freedom and thrill overwhelm these
adventure seekers for whom recreational activities also mean survival of the fittest. Heres presenting you
the ten most popular adventure sports or recreational activities today.

River Rafting

River rafting is considered as one of the most popular

recreational activities in adventure tourism. Rafting is divided into 6 levels of difficulty. It is the most
adrenaline pumping activity in the mountainous terrains. Any mountain river is potentially suitable for river
rafting. However, the Himalayan Rivers, Ladakh, Colorado, Costa Rica, Montenegro are known for their
sharp turns and established as excellent regions for river rafting challenges.

Rock Climbing and Mountaineering

These two activities are like the two sides of a coin.

When your aspiration is as high as the Mount Everest itself, it is difficult to resist the temptation to climb. It

is true that mountaineering is one of the oldest recreational activities, rock climbing, an integral part of
mountaineering has turned a new leaf in the world of outdoor recreation. Learning to climb may be a bit
tiresome even with all the newest and most advanced gears, but with your first solo climb; the thrill of freesoloing (rock climbing without support) becomes an addiction. Be it mountainous ridges or cliffs near the
ocean the hunt for fresh climbing sites is as exciting as climbing itself. Undulated surfaces being spread
all

the

world,

rock

climbers

everywhere.

Skydiving
Man, from the beginning of the age of reasoning, justifies its need for wings. Flying now is not only a passion
but is a regular sport too. While the drop zone Skydive Arizona in USA is considered the skydive capital of
the world, other countries are not far behind when it comes to technology or expertise in skydiving. Touch
the water with your feet while flying in your parachute in Pond Swooping, race in skydiving challenges like
Hit and Rock, draw the skylines with innovative formations in formation skydiving, or just take a long trip
under the parachute canopy with cross-country skydiving the choice is yours. And dont forget to film your
breath-taking experience at 13,000 feet from the ground.

Paragliding

Paragliding may seem to be the close cousin of

skydiving, yet they are miles apart in details. From the point of ascent to the descent, here the parachute
(paraglider) calls the shots. The advantage of paragliding over skydiving is the pilot harness where the pilot
can sit and enjoy the ride while maneuvering the glider with its advanced gears. The paragliders technology
encourages many daredevil flying stunts, including the thermal flying where thermal air pockets are used

by experienced paragliders to spiral up to the cloud base. Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI)
holds championships worldwide every year for cross country flying, power gliding etc. Other than USA,
Austria (Stubaital), Brazil (Araxa) and Indonesia (Painan) are major hosting nations for Paragliding.

Scuba Diving

The word scuba originally used to be an acronym for

Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus during World War II when it was invented for underwater
warfare. However, the excitement of the recreational marine life showcasing has overtaken the original
grave purposes of Scuba Diving. The peaceful underwater retreat attracts tourists to various coral and
marine life destinations every year. Not only the marine life and the formations of the corals, but the mystical
shapes and structures conjured on the ocean beds also pull ones attention. The adventurous packages of
cave diving stick to natural caverns, while exploring the insides of old shipwrecks constitutes the other
thrilling part wreck diving. Most coral destinations around the world (like in Great Barrier Reef,
Lakshadweep and other Pacific Islands) have varied range of fun activities involving the Scuba equipment.

Skiing and Sledging (Sledding)

Earlier history suggests that Skiing used to be the

hunting medium for the Nordic people. The thrill remains, though only in the form of different athletic
challenges of the Nordic and Alpine regions. Snow surfing is one classy way of sightseeing in the mountain
territories. To spice up the adventure, ski resorts in many countries have designed special skiing routes to
include obstacles and jumping ramps. Ski Jumping and Telemarking are also famous athletic events. Kite
skiing and water skiing are two newer derivatives of Alpine skiing. Sledging (or, sledding, in USA) shares
its fame for being Santa Clauses ride during the Christmas and also a fun and less expensive recreational
activity alongside Skiing.

Surfing

There is no better way to enjoy the waves than to go

surfing. Use a surfboard, a canoe (or even a door or a guitar, if you can manage) to have the full splashes
of enjoyment. Originally from Polynesian culture and found first in the Tahiti Islands, water surfing has been
one of the most cherished surface water sports ever. Depending on the topography of the beach, facing
the waves, surfing has different forms around the world. Mostly preferred in areas close to the oceans,
surfing has found takers in most pacific islands, Hawaii (Pipeline), Australia (Belles Beach), South Africa
(Jeffreys Bay), Sri Lanka (Pottuvil), Portugal (Supertubos), USA (Mavericks) and in different coastal regions
of the world.

Wildlife Surveys
Considering the recent endangering of the wildlife species, one can enhance their regular holiday trip to the
forest as a step towards the protection of these animals. Many organisations are encouraging wildlife
surveys to be made by the visitors both residential and non-residential. Basic data and samples are
collected by them and results are announced depending on the number of participants, days of visit etc. A
thorough watch is also kept on licensed and non-licensed hunting and data is recorded. One such survey
is conducted by the National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation in USA.

Desert Safari

Also known as Dune Bashing, desert safari has

become one of the prime desert recreation activities around the world, especially in the heart of Middle
East. Dubai can be considered the hub of desert activities including desert safari and sand skiing. Exploring
the Arabian sand dunes in a hardy Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and possibility of performing thrilling stunts
are the appetisers for the adventure seekers. In USA, sand dunes near California and Michigan are also
popular for such sport.

Coastal Trekking

Swaying from the traditional routes of road trips or

hiking, coastal trekking (coast to coast walk) is one of the recent popular recreations and slowly gaining
popularity among trekkers. The trekking routes constitute of beaches and extended coastal lines. Long trek
routes are harmless, yet one must keep track of the tides as extended beaches seem to drown during this
time. No fixed coastal trekking routes have been charted due to its relative freshness, but coastal lines in
Eastern India, Australia and South Eastern Asia have been well tried.

Public parks were initially set aside for recreation and leisure and sport

Leisure, or free time, is time spent away from business, work, domestic chores, and education. It
also excludes time spent on necessary activities such as eating and sleeping.
The distinction between leisure and unavoidable activities is not a rigidly defined one, e.g. people
sometimes do work-oriented tasks forpleasure as well as for long-term utility.[1] A distinction may also
be drawn between free time and leisure. For example, Situationist International maintains that free
time is illusory and rarely free; economic and social forces appropriate free time from the individual
and sell it back to them[clarification needed] as the commodity known as "leisure".[2] Certainly most people's
leisure activities are not a completely free choice, and may be constrained by social pressures, e.g.
people may be coerced into spending time gardening by the need to keep up with the standard of
neighbouring gardens.
A related concept is that of social leisure, which involves leisurely activities in a social settings, such
as extracurricular activities, e.g. sports, clubs.
Leisure studies and sociology of leisure are the academic disciplines concerned with the study and
analysis of leisure.

maikling kuwento

lantad man o tago.

Tagalog Version of
"Mi Ultimo Adios"
PAHIMAKAS ni Dr. Jose Rizal

Pinipintuho kong Bayan ay paalam,

Lupang iniirog ng sikat ng araw,
mutyang mahalaga sa dagat Silangan,
kaluwalhatiang sa ami'y pumanaw.

Masayang sa iyo'y aking idudulot

ang lanta kong buhay na lubhang malungkot;
maging maringal man at labis alindog

Saan man mautas ay dikailangan,

gabahid man dungis niyong kahihiyan.

Sa kabuhayang ko ang laging gunita

maningas na aking ninanasa-nasa

ay guminhawa ka ang hiyas ng diwa

hingang papanaw ngayong biglang-bigla.
pag hingang papanaw ngayong biglang-bigla.

Ikaw'y guminhawa laking kagandahang

at dalitin niya payapang panahon.

Bayaan ang ningas ng sikat ng araw

ula'y pasingawin noong kainitan,
magbalik sa langit ng boong dalisay
kalakip ng aking pagdaing na hiyaw.

Bayaang sino man sa katotang giliw

tangisang maagang sa buhay pagkitil;
kung tungkol sa akin ay may manalangin
idalangin, Bayan, yaring pagka himbing.

Idalanging lahat yaong nangamatay,

mangagatiis hirap na walang kapantay;

mga ina naming walang kapalaran

na inihihibik ay kapighatian.

Ang mga bao't pinapangulila,

ang mga bilanggong nagsisipagdusa;
dalanginin namang kanilang makita
ang kalayaan mong, ikagiginhawa.

At kung an madilim na gabing mapanglaw

ay lumaganap na doon sa libinga't
tanging mga patay ang nangaglalamay,
huwag bagabagin ang katahimikan.

Ang kanyang hiwagay huwag gambalain;

lupa'y asarolin at kauyang ikalat.

Bayang iniirog, sakit niyaring hirap,

Katagalugang ko pinakaliliyag,
dinggin mo ang aking pagpapahimakas;

walang umiinis at berdugong hayop;
pananalig doo'y di nakasasalot,
si Bathala lamang dooy haring lubos.

Paalam, magulang at mga kapatid

kapilas ng aking kaluluwa't dibdib
mga kaibigan bata pang maliit
sa aking tahanan di na masisilip.

Pag pasasalamat at napahinga rin,

paalam estranherang kasuyo ko't aliw,
paalam sa inyo, mga ginigiliw;
mamatay ay siyang pagkakagupiling!
