TRANSMISSION

WHAT IS TRANSMISSION..?
A mechanical power transmitting system,
which provides controlled application of
power.

USE OF TRANSMISSION:PROVIDES DIFFERENT VALUES OF POWER,

ACCELERATION AND TORQUE FOR
DIFFERENT GEAR RATIOS.

TYPES OF TRANSMISSION:
Z speed transmission
1. Sliding Mesh
2. Constant Mess
3. Synchromesh
4. Semi automatic
5. Automatic
6. Twin clutch

Constantly variable
Transmission
1.Pulley Transmission
2.Torsion Transmission
3.Hydrostatic

SYNCHROMESH TRANSMISSION:-

SEMIAUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: Gear shifting takes place without pressing clutch.

Changes gear on command of driver through
electronic sensors.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:
GEAR SHIFTING TAKES PLACE AUTOMATICALLY
THROUGH ELECTRONIC SENSORS.

No command is required
from driver for gear
shifting

TWIN CLUTCH TRANSMISSION:

GEAR SHIFTING MECHANISM:

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION:-

CLUTCH

CLUTCH:
Clutch is a mechanical device that
provides for the transmission of
power from one component to
another (the driven member) when
engaged, but can be disengaged.

A FEW TYPES OF CLUTCH

1. MULTIPLE PLATE CLUTCH:
THIS TYPE OF CLUTCH HAS SEVERAL DRIVING
MEMBERS INTERLEAVED OR "STACKED WITH SEVERAL
DRIVEN MEMBERS.

MULTI-PLATE CLUTCH

2. WET CLUTCH
A wet clutch is immersed in a cooling
lubricating fluid that also keeps
surfaces clean and provides smoother
performance and longer life.
Wet clutches, however, tend to lose
some energy to the liquid.

3. CENTRIFUGAL
This clutch system employs centrifugal force to
automatically engage the clutch when the engine rpm
rises above a threshold and to automatically disengage
the clutch when the engine rpm falls low enough.

4 CONICAL
The cone's taper means that a given amount of
movement of the actuator makes the surfaces
approach (or recede) much more slowly than in a disc
clutch. As well, a given amount of actuating force
creates more pressure on the mating surfaces

5. TORQUE LIMITER
Also known as a slip clutch or safety clutch, this
device allows a rotating shaft to slip when higher
than normal resistance is encountered on a
machine
