From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Igor Yevgenyevich Irodov (Russian: ; 16 November 1923 in Murom 22 October 2002)[1] was a Russian physicist known for his highly respected book Problems in
General Physics. His books are the prescribed practice material for national and International
Physics Olympiads in several countries. He also authored "Basic laws of electromagnetism" and
"Fundamental laws of mechanics".
Igor Irodov was born in Murom, Vladimir Oblast, RSFSR. In 1931 his family moved to Moscow. Igor
Irodov served in the Soviet Army during the World War II between 16 October 1941 and 23
November 1945. In 1946 he was admitted to Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. Igor Irodov
received his Kandidat of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree from Moscow Engineering
Physics Institute in 1954. His advisor was Lev Artsimovich. Igor Irodov was a faculty member of the
Moscow Engineering Physics Institute since that time until his death. Since 1977 he was a Professor
of the "General Physics" chair. He spent 26 years of his life creating a full course of General
Physics.[1]

Biography[edit]
Igor Irodov was born in Murom, Vladimir region in the family servants. In 1931, the Irodov family
moved to Moscow. June 18, 1941 (the eve of World War II) I.E. Irodov graduated from secondary
school 147 of the Leningrad district of Moscow.

war, I.E. Irodov was awarded the Order of Patriotic War II degree (1945), Red Star (1944), and the
medals "For Courage" (1943), "For Military Merit" (1944), "For Victory over Germany" (1946).
November 23, 1945 I.E. Irodov was demobilized from the ranks of the Red Army for health reasons
and returned to Moscow. In February 1946, I.E. Irodov entered the Moscow Engineering Physics
Institute at the Faculty of Physics. In November 1950 I.E. Irodov graduated from MMI as an
engineer-physicist in the design and operation of physical devices and systems. From March 1951 to
March 1954 I.E. Irodov was a graduate student MMI / MEPI. Scientific director of I.E. Irodov was
Academician LA Artsimovich. Thesis for the degree of Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences
was held May 7, 1956. Thesis "Study focusing and dispersive properties of some variants of
magnetic fields." Diploma of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences IMF number 001,249
was issued to I.E. Irodov December 1, 1956.
March 22, 1954 I.E. Irodov was hired by the department of physics at the Moscow Engineering
Physics Institute, led by IV Obreimov, as assistant. From October 1957 I.E. Irodov worked at the
Department of Physics, has led IV Saveliev, a senior lecturer from June 1958 - as a lecturer.
February 13, 1960 I.E. Irodov was approved in the academic rank of assistant professor in the
department of general physics. Certificate of Associate Professor IBC number 000373 was issued by
I.E. Irodov March 21, 1960. On March 29, 1976 I.E. Irodov worked at the Department of General
Physics as a professor. November 25, 1977 he was confirmed in the academic rank of professor in
the department of general physics.
His first printed textbook I.E. Irodov prepared and published in the Moscow Engineering Physics
Institute in 1957. It was a collection of problems in atomic physics. The book was immediately
positively marked by experts, and following its publication has been carried out, "Ato" in 1959.
Following the all-union recognition in this book was followed by her international recognition. The
book was published in Poland, Romania, United States. After substantial completion of the book, is
primarily to expand its theme, the book became known as the collection of problems in atomic and

nuclear physics. It is symbolic that the last book published in vivo I.E. Irododv was the 8th edition of
the book in 2002, published under the title "Atomic and nuclear physics.
A collection of problems. "IV Saveliev attracted I.E. Irodov (with teachers of the Department of
General Physics, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute and the OI NN Vzorov suede) to write the
"Collection of problems in general physics." The first edition of this book was done in 1968 by
publishing house "Science".In 1979 the publishing house "Science" has released his own collection
of problems in General Physics I.E. Irodov, entitled "Problems in General Physics."The aim of the life
of I.E. Irodov was to write their own full course of general physics. On the implementation of this goal
by I.E. Irodov spent 27 years of his life. His book, general problems in physics is highly regarded as
one of the most difficult problem books in physics and demands thorough conceptual knowledge of
physics and high aptitude. It is also recommended by the alumni of the Indian Institutes of
Technology as a guide for preparing for the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance
Examination.
