Activity 2- Warm-up
Aims: to get Ss involved into the topic
to activate Ss knowledge of language
PROCEDURE
T asks Ss to look at the photos. T asks: What do
you know about these people and their lives?
Ss discuss the famous people in small groups, then
report back to the whole class.
T asks different group to report on each person. T
asks Ss: Can you add any information about this
person?

Activity 3- Writing
Aims:
To introduce words describing physical appearance
To describe the appearance of famous people
PROCEDURE
INTERACTION TIMING
T writes the title of the new lesson on the board:
Physical appearance .
T-S
With book closed, T divides the class into four
groups. T writes four headings on the board: Age;
Height and Built; Hair; Face; Special features.
T elicits one or two examples for each category.
Each of the four groups has one of the above

categories. Ss brainstorm all the vocabulary they

know for that category, then check in the textbook.

Ss can also use their dictionary to check new
words.
T divides the class into groups of four, one from

each original group. Ss look at the vocabulary in
the textbook and T explains new vocabulary to each
other. T monitors and checks pronunciation of the
new vocabulary.
Ss work in pairs to describe the people in the
photographs, using the new vocabulary.
T checks the descriptions with the whole class, by
eliciting answers from individual Ss
Activity 4: Practice
to use the vocabulary related to physical appearance
to practice writing skills
PROCEDURE
T asks Ss to write a description of themselves on a
slip of paper, but dont write their name. T collects
the papers and give them out to another S. In small
groups Ss identify the descriptions.

Activity 5:

PROCEDURE
SS find one picture in Ex 2( of a star when they
were younger) that they are sure they can identify.
T shows Ss the examples in the Grammar flash and
checks meaning e.g.
That must be Kate Winslet / That cant
be Kate Winslet.
Are you sure? (Yes) How sure (Very./99/%)
Why?
In pairs, Ss solve Ex 2/p 77. They find another
picture of each person when he/she was younger.
T asks some pairs to repeat the conversation for the
whole class.
