Community Developer Posting

Kagita Mikam Aboriginal Employment & Training Services is seeking a Community Developer
to work on a 3-month contract with the ultimate goal of being employed full-time pending
funding. This position will be based at our head office located in Shannonville, Ontario.

Community Developer is a specialized position where exceptional communication,
organizational, and negotiating skills are required by an individual filling this position. Duties
of this position includes but is not limited to: providing employers with assistance in
completing applications, monitoring contracts, preparing contract amendments, preparing
payment claim forms, and working with educational institutions on client course costs and
accounts.

Qualifications:

Completion of a career development certificate program or equivalent post secondary

courses, or minimum of 3 5 years previous experience in a career
facilitation/employment development field setting is required;
Completion of a secondary education and several years of experience in services
related to job/community development or in another helping profession may replace
formal education;
Ability to plan, organize, communicate (oral and written) work and function effectively
with minimum supervision; and Excellent multi-tasking skills;
Reliable transportation.

Knowledge:

Basic knowledge of Kagita Mikam and its client base;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Strong assessment, time management, negotiation, and planning skills;
Ability to work in computer applications such as, Word, Excel, Internet and email;
Knowledge of ethical practices in employment development;
Knowledge and sensitivity to the needs of the greater aboriginal community.
Salary is structured using Kagita Mikams established pay grid
