Problem
Monitor the astronauts health during
long space missions (using ECG/EKG)
Current methods require assistance
from others
Some methods add to payload, and
generate waste which is unsuitable for
long space missions
Dry electrodesrequire
appropriate placement,
donning/doffing

Design Requirements
Develop a one size fit all device compatible with
Mason Likar configuration for dry electrode ECG
Desired goals
Provides accurate electrode placement
Economical
No Waste, Reusable
Light weight, Portable
Quick don/doff
Comfortable
The Challenge
Mason-Likar 12 Lead
ECG configuration
requires specific
electrode placements
Varying body sizes
Compromise between
adaptability and accurate
electrode placement

Previous designs
ECG-Glove (INeedMD)
Wet electrode, single use,
flexibility still an issue
NASA-JSC:
Issues with flexibility

Features
Adaptable (Fits chest sizes 34
in to 48 in)
Modular (Interchangeable
components)
Provides accurate electrode
placement
Cost effective (~$50)
Light weight, Portable (<100g)
Quick don/doff (~1 min)
Comfortable (uses mild
fabrics, cotton)
The EKGs produced with the ReMuV device are comparable to traditional wet
electrode EKGs. Once the users baseline stabilizes, the important features of an EKG
can be easily appreciated and accurately reproduce the traditional EKG. I expect this
device will enjoy success after FDA approval, both in space and in other applications
on earth.

Design summary
Designed and developed Easy to use design for
Reusable Multipurpose Vest
Design meets or exceeds the specified needs
Innovative Modular design
Other potential applications in health, military, etc.
Feedback from Dr. Reyna Bara, mentor
The Design is innovative because it is modular,
adaptable and easily usable with quick don-doff.
