Analysis and Design of Light Weight Structure I

Describes the process of aircraft structure development in Industry; and role airworthiness requirement for
aircraft components. Then, it discusses the role and layout of main aircraft components. Material
application and selection is also explained. It is followed by aircraft load analysis to define critical design
load for major structure. The student is also thought on how to synthesize aircraft components based on a
simple procedure. The student is asked to work in a team to redesign aircraft components and to present
his/her work in seminar and in a written report. Student should produce engineering drawing of his/her
design using a modern tool as part of the communication skill and reporting.
