ANOS
40 Years of History
The history of RITZ DO BRASIL S.A., began with the arrival of the
young and determined Austrian engineer, Emil Ritz, to Brazil, in 1950.
Initially established in Porto Alegre and So Paulo, he transferred
to Belo Horizonte in 1955 as a sales representative. In 1960, he founded the company
RITZ COMRCIO E INDSTRIA LTDA., pioneer in Brazil in the manufacturing of
thermo-elements for measurement of temperature of liquid steel. This innovating spirit
has been a key success factor of the company over the years.
RITZ DO BRASIL S.A. was the first Brazilian company to manufacture::

Since 1973, RITZ DO BRASIL S.A., is located in the industrial district of Betim,
close to Belo Horizonte, on the highway from Belo Horizonte to So Paulo. It was the first
industry to settle in this area. In that same year, the company made a joint-venture with
the well known American company A. B. CHANCE. During the 16 years of association,
the entire technology and manufacturing know-how for all HOT LINE TOOLS (for power
distribution networks, substations and transmission lines up to 800 kV) was successfully
trasnsferred to the Brazilian company. The registered trademark
is respected by all customers as a symbol of high quality products manufactured

according to international technical standards and under a ISO 9001 certified quality
system.
The selection criteria of its sub-suppliers and a rigorous quality control of the
incoming raw materials, the in-process controls and the final testing at the in-house
laboratories, guarantee the quality of the products manufactured by RITZ DO BRASIL
S.A.
The administrative building of RITZ DO BRASIL S.A., was constructed as a
copy of the large mansions of the coffee-barons of Brazilian colonial times. Trees and
green fields found throughout the premises provide an aggreeable working atmosphere
where the RITZ QUALITY achieves a deeper meaning covering not only the products but
also environment and leisure activities of the RITZ-TEAM.

A greater efficiency in performing a grounding work depends on the procedures used to connect the clamps to
the conductors. RITZ DO BRASIL suspension clusters allow the clamps to be raised simultaneously, providing
a safe and quick work sequence.

Clamp resting support - HANGER STUDS
Hanger studs are mounted on the main clamp and permit
additional clamps to be fixed and elevated to the conductor
through the main clamp. It is a safe way to improve the
speed of grounding process. Those hanger studs can be
mounted on any type of RITZ clamps, except small models
G-1710. The C600-0080 stud is to be used with clamps
with threaded terminal.

RITZGLAS GRIP-ALL CLAMPSTICK is the most used HOT LINE TOOL and makes part of
any toolset of electrical live line maintenance. The position of the hook is operated through a
voidfree pulltruded fiberglass rod, allowing three different basic positions:

The temporary short-circuiting stick for secondary
systems is used in overhead low voltage lines which
are not energized, providing safety during dead line
maintenance against electrical accidents, which
may be caused by an accidental switch of the
system, lightning strikes, etc.

SOCKET BALL CLAMP FOR TEMPORARY GROUNDING

INTRODUCTION:
The new SOCKET BALL clamp was designed to solve many kinds of
problems regarding temporary grounding, such as insufficient space
or contact surface for installation.
Inside cubicles, specially the ones with rectangular bus bars, where
the regular clamps are too big to be used, SOCKET-BALL clamps
overcome installation difficulties with extreme operational easiness,
providing a safe connection able to withstand high short circuit
currents.

A brand new model, the SOCKET-BALL clamp is suitable for

grounding of:
- Cubicles;
- Indoor and outdoor substations;
- Hot line vehicles;
- Painted transmission lines structures, where it is not possible to get a
perfect electric contact using regular grounding clamps.

SEQUENCE OF TEMPORARY GROUNDING AND

SHORT-CIRCUITING SET INSTALLATION - OVERHEAD LINES
With Contact Tester high

voltage detector attached to
a RITZGLAS hot stick,
verifies that the system is deenergized..
Install the ground rod and

attach the proper grounding
clamp to its vertical shaft.
The ground rod should be
driven as deep as possible,
leaving above the ground
only the length needed to
attach the grounding clamp.
Previously fixed to the pole,

connect the saddle cluster
support to the ground rod
through the proper
grounding clamps and cable.

support, which will also be
connected to phase
conductors through proper
grounding clamps and
cables.
Using a suspension cluster

set and a RITZGLAS hot
stick, slowly lift the clamps
and connect the set to the
central phase.
Always using a RITZGLAS

hot stick, as is usual in hot
line maintenance, remove
one clamp from the cluster
set and connect it to the
lateral phase.
Repeat the last step,

connecting the third clamp to
the other lateral phase,
concluding the short circuit
of the three phases.
Note: The clamps must be
attached directly to the
conductor and never to
preformed wire connections
or similar.
After the installation of the

grounding set is over, the
eletrician is allowed to have
access to the conductors,
that is to say, the line can be
assumed to be de-energized
only when it is properly
grounded..
