Weve got to ask, why is a technical job

an elected position to begin with, why was it so
hotly contested at the primary level, and why
is Hoyt fighting so fiercely for it? What the Hell
is going on at the District Clerks office? What
kind of juice does this gig come with, and why
does it come with any to begin with? Wed put

District Court Clerk Post

Thrown into Confusion

Comal County voters were dismayed to find out

last week that Sri Pathatapulate won the race
for District Clerk.
Pathatapulate, a native of Mumbai, India,
has never been to America.
I dont understand, Pathatapulate said. I
very much do not wish to do this thing, please.
Do I have to?
Pathatapulate, who runs a tea shop in
Mumbai, was not on even on the ballot but
seemed to garner a great deal of attention as
an (evidently) unwilling write-in candidate.
This must be some kind of joke, he said.
I dont even understand why you have to vote
for such a person. It is a clerical position. Should
not the judges just hire the clerk?
Kristen Hoyt, who is suspiciously desperate
to hold the post, demanded that she be named
Queen Clerk. Hoyt, who also has never been to
America, was ruled ineligible to hold the office
before the election.
I will raise an army! Hoyt raved. I will take
the position by force. You will all bow before me.
She is a very troubled woman,
Pathatapulate said. Very troubled, indeed.
The City of New Braunfels voted to appeal
the decision.

a river, it is illegal.
New Braunfels appealed the decision,
claiming that as a home-rule city, it has the right
and duty to use an aircraft carrier.
Theres no appeal. Its illegal, a Pentagon
spokesman said, obviously not understanding
who he was dealing with.

Fighting City Hall

Steve Morsett is demanding that City Council pass

an ordinance that would give him a girlfriend.
The City owes me a girlfriend, Morsett
said. Im a taxpayer.
Every time I turn around, theres
another restraining order, he bemoaned.
How am I supposed to make them love me
if I cant see them?
Morsett said that the United States
Constitution demands the government provide
him a girlfriend. When it was pointed out that
the Constitution allows no such thing, Morsett
responded that youre just like them.
After Morsett presented his case to Council,
an unnamed City Attorney said the City could
procure Morsett a girlfriend, but it couldnt be a
New Braunfels resident. We could capture a
tourist, the attorney said.
One Councilmember asked if that would
amount to the City participating in the illegal
act of kidnapping.
