Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

Will not God give justice to his chosen ones, when they cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? (Luke 18:7,
Sharif Bible).
Every year, thousands of Christians are martyred for their faith, most in Muslim lands. They have received their reward, but
they leave behind families, friends, and churches who miss them and even suffer without them. Let's pray this week that the
Lord will sustain and encourage those left behind.*

Today's Prayer Requests: Focus on West Africa and Cte d'Ivoire

An alumnus working to further outreach in several nations of the sub-region asks us to pray for the churches of West
Africa and of his home country, Cte d'Ivoire, as they work to reach the growing Muslim population:
West Africa
Pray for the leaders of the churches of West Africa, that they would be increasingly aware of the current dominance
of the majority (Islam) in the sub-region. Pray also that the Lord will guide them in a strategic response.
Pray that God would raise up servant leaders who can prepare true disciples within the Body of Christ and equip
them to effectively meet the challenges of the missionincluding preparation for persecution.
Cte d'Ivoire
The care and discipling of new converts remains a major challenge for the churches. Pray that they are increasingly
equipped for more effective follow-up and socio-economic integration of converts persecuted for their faith in Christ.
Pray that the leaders of churches, Bible schools, and missions organizations working in areas dominated by the
majority, would work in unity to better serve the interests of the Kingdom of God and especially to demonstrate in a
practical way Christ's love to their neighbors.
Pray for those who are persecuted, that they would be encouraged, that they would not renounce Christ because of
their suffering, and that they would be victorious so they may more effectively proclaim Christ.

World Watch List: Pray for the Persecuted**

The Republic of Indonesia ranks 47th on the list of countries where persecution of Christians is most severe. This
island nation in Southeast Asia is home to the world's largest population of Muslimsmore than 202 million. Muslim
extremist groups have made life difficult for churches, and converts to Christ face rejection from their families. In
October, newly-elected President Joko Widodo began his term and, unlike his Sunni Muslim predecessor, is working
toward greater freedom of worship for all minorities. Evangelical Christians make up less than 3% of the population.
Pray that this new legislation, to be developed over the next 6 months, will indeed allow for greater freedom to spread
the gospel. Pray that many more Muslims will turn to Jesus and lead their families to true freedom in Him.

For Muslim Women***

Please pray for the Muslim father of a converted daughter, that he will find Jesus in the midst of his battle against
cancer.
