The argument

The Hirova Monastery a Sanctuary with a Special History and Unexpected Destiny work is a
guide those who like to get aquainted with the history of the Hirova monastery (Ciurova,
Ghirova). It is meant for history teachers, students, pupils, parents and tourists.
The author starts the writing by putting th auto route, marked on the map, that leads to this
monastery. The author indicates the works of the researchers indicated below: A. Zashciuk
(1862), Zanfir Arbure (1899), Paul Crushevan (1903), Constantin Gane (1932 1939), Ion
Batrinu (1991, 1995), Luminitsa Ilvutsky (1999), Romeo Cemirtan (2000), Mihai Obreja
(2010), Victor Ciobanu, Elena Kudreavtseva and other religious personalities Mihail
Gonitsky (1883), Reference Book of the Diocese of Chisinau (1907, 1915), Visarion Puiu
(1919), Directory Eparchy of Chisinau and Hotin (1922), Romanian Orthodox Christian
Students Association (2001) etc.
The author had researched and analized proposed sources. He made a synthesis of data and
events developed in different time limits, destinies of personalities that are close related to this
monastery. The author counts on the founders of this sanctuary Andrey Taut, Pelaghia and
Ralutsa Callimachi, the sister and the wife of moldavian lord Ion Callimachi, who are R.I.P.
under the porch of the Church dedicated to the Ierarch St. Nicholas, Alexey Micu, the freeman
Leontie Balaban, Ion Botezat and others.
It is given approximately the foundation date of men hermitage (1770), that was changed into
nouns hermitage, after burning in 1805. The monks share with this building for 35 years. 31
years later there is built another church, made of stone. The third building, called Winter Church,
dedicated to Lords Greeting holiday, was built in 31 years, too. This church is dedicated today to
another saint, St. Simion the Pillar.
The author encounts the abbots that managed this sanctuary, the priests (confessors) who
developed relogious services from the beginnig till now, he blames the comunist regime, who
destroyed this monastery with no mercy, using it as a ftiziopneumological institution for children
and grain wharehouse, fruits and mechanical workshop.
The author shows a copy taken from a work about Hirova Monastery, that dates since 1883 and
was named Ciurova by the Russians. There are selected and presented epochal photos that give
the shape to the monachal life of the monks, sisters, cell boxes there they activated and lived.
There is also presented a photo where the Mitropolit of that period, Gurie Grosu, had visited this
monastery.

The author mentions the researches of Paul Crushevan and Constantin Gane (1932 1939),
where is said that thre are restiong the first Ladies of Callimachi royal family in the porch of the
church, dedicated to the Ierarch St. Nicolas. It is a shame for those who mistreated the graves by
putting the mortar basys on them, right in the porch of the church.
The author mentions in the same work about the priestess house, situated near the bridge, the
spring, or the wells on the Isakovas peak, the spring of the monk, the watch house in the
monachal cemetery, that was built when all the sanctuaries in the town were closed. It served as
a church, for that time, whre the priest could say the last pray for those who passed away.
You also can see crosses and crucifixes made of epochal stone, good looking graves in this
cemetery, where are resting in peace the monks, the sisters, the confessors of this monastery and
the soldiers of Romanian Army who passed away in the period of the IInd W.W. and were buried
near the citizens.
The actual manager of this monastery, archimandrite Ierinarch (Rusu), began to rebuild this
winter church sanctuary since the first day of his mission.
